With the stunning scenery and the rugged terrain of this awesome country painting the back story of the onset of WWII, and the random mix of unlikely characters whose stories are individually sorrowful, a love story unfolds that is quite unexpected. It's a longer movie, the editing is a little off in places, sometimes the scenes between Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman feel somewhat wooden, forced, lacking any real chemistry in real life so nothing translates into the film itself, but...WHO CARES???? I fell in love with young Brandon Walters! This young actor was phenomenal and I was totally invested in his story. A beautiful story and the most incredible story between a boy and his grandfather. The connection so intense that time and space can not separate them. The magic is what makes this movie work and the magic is love. Brandon's character, Nullah, a mixed-race child, has stolen my heart and when the movie was over I found myself missing Nullah. My friend loaned me this film and encouraged me to watch it and after I watched it once I knew I had to have my own copy. I think I should have ordered more than one because I know I will soon wear my DVD out! I love, love, love this film!
