I ordered a book from Amazon thru "book community" on Sept 4/08 and emailed book community on the 17th to let them know it was not received as per the suggestion that the 17th should be the day of arrival. They mentioned the 28th I should receive it. It is now Oct 6th/09 and nothing has arrived. I bought it as a gift to my husband for his new night classes less item to purchase kinda thing... but he had to purchase it for class as a result of it never arriving as he needed it for class.

Never again will I order a book online....

Steamed user.

Good on essentials, abysmal on advanced Oct. 9 2010

A new comer or a novice student will find this book a good starter to AutoCAD,there are examples, exercises, questions, etc, beyond that it is not very helpful; the treatment of the rather new and elusive concept of the annotative property of objects, for example, is explained in a rather flimsy and evasive fashion in just a handful of pages.

A catalog of ACAD 2009 commands in detail Aug. 29 2008
By Eugene Tenenbaum - Published on
Format: Paperback
This book contains a detailed explanation of AutoCAD 2009 commands and how to use them in solving drafting and design problems. At the end of each topic, there are examples that illustrate the function of the command and how it can be used in the drawing. After reading this textbook, you will be able to use AutoCAD commands to make a drawing, create annotative objects, make and insert symbols, dimension a drawing, create 3D objects and solid models, navigate through your drawing, switch between layouts and drawings, create and record viewpoints and actions, render and animate the designs, and write script files.
Some of the features of this text book are:
· Step-by-step instructions for creating annotative objects, making and inserting symbols, and dimensioning drawings promote efficient use of the software while strengthening your problem-solving skills.
· Usage of commands and shortcuts to increase efficiency of the users.
· Additional information is provided to the users in the form of Tips and Notes.

Intermediate Level Dec 21 2008
By Autocad learner - Published on
Format: Paperback
What's different and good about this book is that it combines the tutorial approach with the command-reference-book. The author goes more into the background of commands and the variations that are available. So you get a blend of a step by step tutorial with a more complete knowledge of what variations are available with a command. The reference book lists all the variations of a command, but not always how to use them. There's also information on how some commands have evolved and why certain things can't be done with a particular command. It definitely is a book that broadens one's understanding of AutoCad.
