Cape Breton Meets Hollywood,

Ava Comes Home, by Lesley Crewe, is an incredibly engaging book. Set between Hollywood and Cape Breton, an unusual combination, this is the story of Libby who comes home from her Hollywood life after 10 years. This book contained all the nuances of a Cape Breton family. The characters all rang true with their eccentricities and their ordinariness. The story itself, while a familiar tale of young love lost, pulls the reader in easily. I read this book over just a few days because I found it difficult to put down. The characters were likable and I wanted to know what happened to them. This is the first book by Crewe that I have read. But I've already bought another and have added this author to my list of favourites!
