I need to be up-front here and state that I had contacted Dr. Orloff on Twitter, praising this book. She appreciated my comments and requested I write a review of it on Amazon.com. Because I have profound respect for Dr. Orloff and her work, I am writing this review.
I am an unconventional transpersonal psychologist, someone who is not clinically inclined. I am also intuitive. Living as I do in the wilds of the conformity-oriented Midwest, in such an environment it is helpful to have means of affirming spirit. The good Dr. Orloff's CD, *Awakening Second Sight*, helps to fill the bill.
How does it help? you ask. Quite simply, listening to her life story and what she has to say about awakening and expanding intuition when, say, reading the paper online or doing course work for an online grad school class (Ph.D. in General Psychology), it helps to act as a review of some of my transpersonal psychology course work. In the process, it helps me to keep focused on spirit when I do use the audiobook. Additionally, given that there is still considerable hostility in science to the very idea of spirit - something that's been true since well before William James published his *Principles of Psychology* in 1890 - her kind words and soothing tone of voice help me to get through my classes.
While this is not a conventional use of Dr. Orloff's audiobook, I feel my comments above may be useful for others and provide them in that spirit.
