Away We Go,

This review is from: Away We Go (Audio CD)
It is hard to critique a Soundtrack CD as you have to basically critique each individual performer but I'll give it a go:1.Towards The Sun (Alexi Murdoch): This is a typical Alexi song with wonderful guitar work as always. I like this song for it's almost virginal naive qualities. Just a sweet little number that he came up with while taking a jaunt...it has that relaxing projection in it's simplicity. 2.Meet Me In The Morning: One of my favorite Bob Dylan songs...that voice just rolling off his lips like a poet at the helm without any other takers! Love the country/rock nature of this great rock ballad. There has never been another Bob Dylan to enter the music scene....& that is because there is no one that can even imitate this musically historically relevant musician. He gave music poetry as if to be the first that ever did it..that's because he made music sound like poetry. Hands down one of the best lyrical writer's of his time & possibly of all time. To me he is like Lennon & McCartney are to the Beatles, as Johnny Cash was to June & Johnny Cash Revival...just so unique you can't even attempt to be similar. 3.The Ragged Sea (Alexi Murdoch): This is one of my least favorite Alexi songs. I can't figure it out....because I love the lyrics, love the guitar work.....hmmm...I actually think this is one of those vocals that I don't love of his. I'm surprised to say that but finally I've figured it out. Some of you might like it but it's just not my cup of tea. 4.Oh! Sweet Nothing (The Velvet Underground): This is my favorite song on this CD...just a good classic rock song. Such a sweet vocal.....great guitar work (thankyou Slash).....this song reminds me of a song I so could have heard Jagger/Richards doing for the Rolling Stones. The vocal makes this song uniquely special though so much.....he makes me realize why I loved so many old Stone Temple Pilots CD's....hmmmm....yes I need to buy some of those again too! 5.Crinian Wood (Alexi Murdoch): Interesting use of the Ukelele or Mandolin? for this song. I think this is a sweet song of young love just being discovered in remembrance. Remembrance of the simple things that made their time special together...now being shared by an old man recalling his youth. Alexi has a sweet way of drawing you into his lyrics to make a connection with him and he does that well with this song. Even his light humming has relevance in the song. These are the songs most of which I liked the best. The George Harrison song was good too; just wasn't one of my favorites of his works which is why I didn't critique it. Enjoy all!

Error in title credits,

Track 3. "Blue Mind" is credited to artist George Harrison in error (should be Alexi Murdoch); of course, track 8 "What Is Life" is George Harrison (from "All Things Must Pass") not Alexi Murdoch ...A terrific soundtrack, not a bad sound in the mix. 8 of 8 people found the following review helpful

The movie is a unique look at love and relationship and the soundtrack is even better. Loved the characters in the film and I can see them in the music. Murdoch holds your attention with a raw warm voice and lyric that keeps you thinking and feeling. Go out and get it, it will add so much beauty and depth to your music collection.

This is a lovely film and a lovely collection of songs: I'm really glad that Alexi Murdoch (Time Without Consequence) is getting the attention and audience he deserves.
