Product Description

A trio of spikey-haired bleached blonds with A's in the subjects Harmonizing 101 and Pouting for Beginners at the Backstreet Boys Academy, Toronto-based b4-4 made waves with this debut with the track "Get Down." Chart-topping pop doesn't get much more explicit than this (very) thinly veiled ode to oral sex--the hook being that such activities should be mutual--but Ohad Einbinder and identical twins Ryan and Dan Kowarsky keep everything squeaky clean on the rest of the album. The sap runneth over on declarations of true love such as "Ball and Chain," "That's How I Know," and "Endlessly," for instance. What finally separates the disc from similar efforts by other boy bands is mostly the evil genius of Jason Levine and James McCollum (a.k.a. Prozzäk, and the production team who worked on Nelly Furtado's debut). The two help out on a number of tracks including "Really Gotta Want It" and "Go Go," both of which benefit from a little bit of electric guitar oomph and an extra dose of pop energy. Those songs, along with "Get Down," are enough to win this disc more than also-ran status, but older music fans may find the trio's gleeful massacre of "Don't Let the Sun Catch You Crying" and "You've Got a Friend" unforgivable. It's unlikely either pop classic will ever be the same. --Shawn Conner

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful pop Cd!! Aug. 11 2002
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
Honestly, this has got to be one of my most favourite cds of all time. It's a wonder why B4-4 are not more popular than they are now. This cd would be perfect for any pop music lover that loves N Sync, Backstreet Boys, O-town...etc. The thing is though, B4-4 don't stick to the natural formula of the regular "boyband" genre, because they create their own style; HOWEVER, they still possess the characteristics of those groups, and this combination is a winner. Some songs on this cd you fall in love with immediately, for example, "Ball and Chain", and "Everyday", while others you listen to a couple times, THEN fall in love with. There is not one song on this cd that I don't absolutely love, but I hafta say that my all-time favourite song would be "Ball and Chain". Ryan and Dan (twins), and Ohad's voices blend beautifully in this song, and sounds like the song was made exactly for them.
The only word I can use to describe their voices are truly angelic.
Oh yea....they're all hot too.

5.0 out of 5 stars b4-4 May 8 2002
By Jake
Format:Audio CD
b4-4 came onto the scene by a stroke of luck when they stumbled into Sony Canada one day in 1999. When infact they were going to go to Speakers Corner near the Much Enviroment to try to be noticed and make it big.
The first time I heard b4-4 was on MuchMusic, the song was "Go Go". I really liked this song for its beat, and fast paced lyrics. After I had heard it I downloaded the song, and listened to it over a hundred times! Later I downloaded a few other of their songs, but it wasn't until I visited their website ... that I started to like the band and really wanted this CD.
The CD itself has 12 tracks, most of them are slow paced love songs but there are a few fast songs. Nearly all the songs are on the topic of love, and relationships, with the exception of "Really Gotta Want It" which is for all wannabe singer/songwriters. It teaches you to believe in yourself and reach up high.
The first time that I listened to the CD, I was quite disappointed in some of the other songs on it, but after I had listened to it again I fell in love with the whole thing and now I treat it with the utmost care!
I reccomend this CD to any pop lover, because they will simply love this CD!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Aug. 25 2003
Format:Audio CD
I bought this CD back in 2000 when I bought my discman and I couldn't stop listening 2 it. They have such good harmonies and they sound good solo as well. I really wish they would come out with a 2nd album soon cuz I bet now that they have grown up, their voices sound even better than B4!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Worth buying for "Ball And Chain" alone. April 19 2003

The title says it all. The rest of the tunes are alright, sort of like mainstream teenpop without the Max Martin touch. However, "Ball And Chain" is a fantastic song is worth the purchase alone. Seek it out.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very cool group May 10 2002

This is a pretty cool band. The songs are pretty catchy and get stuck in your head. But the vocals are good, and the songs easily get put on repeat. Like Smile, that one is particularly addictive, so is Get Down and You've Got a Friend. Well they are amusing. But i would advise downloading the music for a preview perhaps before actually buying it.
