After Parting Company with Pink Floyd, Barrett Released the Eccentric but "The Madcap Laughs" in 1970. The More Accessible "Barrett" Followed Later that Same Year with the Help of Dave Gilmour, Richard Wright, and Humble Pie's Drummer Jerry Shirley. Gilmour and Shirley Accompany Syd on the Two Radio One Sessions Contained Here. The First Recording, from the Top Gear Session from February 1970, Showcases a Relaxed Syd Strumming Some of his Best and Most Uplifting Tunes, Including 'terrapin' and 'baby Lemonade', to a Backing of Acoustic Guitar and Bongos. The Second Set is the Long Lost Recording of Syd's Only Other Solo Sitting for Radio 1, the Mythical Bob Harris Session from February '71. Tragically Missing from the BBC'S Archives and Only Ever Available as a Bootleg, this Session Has Never Before Seen Official Release. The Version Included Here Comes from an Off-air Recording and is Therefore of Inevitably Poor Quality, Imbuing the Three Songs with a Darker Edge.

This is truly some the finest raw radio recordings (of any psychedelic explorer from the late 60's/early 70's.) that you'll ever come across. Syd Barrett floats around and captures a lovely, exuberant tone on "Gigolo Aunt" and "Baby Lemonade", and creates one of the most hauntingly beautiful versions of "Dominoes" (my personal favorite) and "Love Song" on record. The last two recordings are "off-air" versions, but that only adds to their timeless appeal and brilliance. If you're eager to appreciate the legacy that is Syd Barrett then you should take the time to study (and appreciate) the Radio One Sessions. The inclusion of the mythical Bob Harris Session from February '71 makes this a must have.

This is a must have cd for any fan of Syd Barrett or Pink Floyd's earlier stuff. The sound quality is awesome and the setlist is incredible. It has Two of a Kind which for a long time was only found on bootleg albums. I am a Huge fan of Pink Floyd and that is how I discovered Syd Barrett. Though it was many many years ago when I first purchased a Syd solo album, I am more in love with his music now than I was way back. This album is not a let down at all. I think this will be a nice additin to your collection.

this release is Syd's best solo release by far. sure its only a five track live set w/ two bonus live cuts but it is truely amazing.

the sound quality is impeccable (given it was recorded 35+ years ago) and the revisions made to each tune for the live set is truely outstanding.

if you were to only own one syd barrett album this should definately be the one. for $[...] dollars what a deal
