The tall lid traps steam and keeps food moist. Typically used for making stews, such as chicken with olives and preserved lemons, or lamb with prunes and cinnamon. I purchased this item a while ago now because my son was interested in Moroccan cooking. We use it nearly every week and it makes delicious tagines. We have impressed dinner guests on more than one occasion with meals cooked in it. It is simple to use - like a pan we put it on the top of our ceramic stove-top. It is easy to clean. It is plain but smart looking. I would highly recommend it as it is also reasonably priced.

Moraccan Cooking Pot

I have just started trying some North African recipes and this tagine has worked well. However, I have given it only 3 stars for what I feel is a design fault. It does not have a well defined ridge around the top of the cover which can be gripped when the pot is hot from the oven and it will be very easy to drop it and break it. To open the tagine when hot I have to raise the top using a pot gripper and putting a spatula between the top and bottom sections and try not to burn myself in the process. Otherwise it has performed well and is a very reasonably priced tagine for the beginner tagine cook to try. It cleans up easily and well.
