Product Description

The beloved children's anthem Baby Beluga joins fun-filled favorites and inspiring Raffi originals in this collection of musical riches for the whole family. --This text refers to an alternate Audio CD edition.

Amazon.ca

Baby Beluga is a fun-filled collection of favorite children's songs and Raffi originals, all performed in the singer's folksy, expressive style. Beluga begins with the sounds of whales communicating in their high-pitch squeaks (which presented here come across as cute and sweet) and features melodic lines that evoke vivid pictures of gentle waves and a frolicking whale. An illustrated sing-along book that is published separately is a nice companion to this first track, giving young listeners visual images of the song's narrative. The rest of this varied album blends traditional songs like "Oats and Beans and Barley" and "This Old Man" with four original pieces by Raffi, including the instrumental "Water Dance." Liner notes have the complete lyrics, a description and history of beluga whales, and explanations of Raffi's inspiration and ties to each song. This is an excellent album with catchy tunes that's sure to become a household favorite. --Tami Horiuchi --This text refers to an alternate Audio CD edition.

This was one of my favourite albums as a kid... I can't say how many times I listened to it. The truly amazing thing about this album, though, is how listenable it continues to be as an adult. I recently revisited this album (at age 30), and was stunned at how beautiful the instrumentation is. This is simply a beautiful example of folk music, for all ages. There are awesome silly songs like Joshua Giraffe that captivated me as a kid, and still leave me with a smile; And there are deeply thoughtful songs like Thanks a lot, and All I Really Need, that I noticed less as a kid, but really enjoy now, and beautiful lullabies like Morningtown Ride that still paint beautiful, calming images in my mind. Raffi has many wonderful albums, but this one will always have a particularly special place in my heart.

This reminds me of the days when my babies were both young. When our children first joined us, we were eager to create new traditions. My youngest joined us in 2004 and our eldest joined us in 2001 through domestic adoption. One of the first things I did with my new baby was spend time getting to know her and often we would just play this Raffi CD Baby Beluga in the living room and dance around. We loved the tunes and my baby liked music. My daughter is now nine and my youngest is now six and they still love to read the little board book with Raffi's Baby Beluga lyrics in it. We sing it together at bedtime some nights and it is still a comforting and calm song. I will always have a special corner of my heart for this sweet song.

This CD is my favorite Raffi CD ever. Baby Beluga and Joshua Giraffe are both FANTASTIC!! My 4-year-old son loves them and asks to hear them over and over. These songs are full length, unlike a lot of Raffi music. I can't say enough about this CD.

The multi-genre composition with folksy melody and clear-pitch singing is a perfect speech simulation for toddler. The intelligently written lyric promotes multi-culture acceptances and positive thinking.

We listened to all of Raffi's albums ALL the time when the boys were little - in the house and travelling in the car was especially fun. That was at least 25 years ago. I just bought two Raffi CD's including Baby Beluga. My two grandchildren are loving the same songs that their dad loved all those years ago.
Definitely Raffi's music knows no time limits. Get your kids dancing to the beat and happiness will shine in your heart.

I remember listening to Raffi when I was growing up. I loved his music then and I still love his music now! (I still get Baby Beluga stuck in my head every once in a while even if I don't hear it for a long time!!) Now that my friends are all starting to have kids I'm going to make sure they all have their own copy.
I'm a substitute teacher now. I was subbing one day for a music teacher. He left the Raffi video for the kindergarten and 2nd grade classes. They both enjoyed it. I was surprised, though, the 2nd graders seemed to enjoy it a little bit more then the kindergarten. I thought they would be getting a little too old to still love Raffi, but I was wrong. It may have been because the knew the songs more, or because they had seen the tape in previous years, but the 2nd grade loved it. I don't think that the kindergarteners had heard of Raffi before, but once the tape started they knew some of the songs for other places (I heard "Barney sings this song!" from several of them. I tried to explain the Raffi sang them before Barney, but that didn't matter to them.)

Our family loves Raffi's music, and we would love to share his music with you.
Raffi's music is pure magic for children! That's why he has been honored with numerous parent and children awards, sold 13 million albums worldwide, over a million books, and millions of concert videos. He's the Mr. Rogers of children's music. His music is good for children (unlike some of the commerical trash out there). And his music is so much fun!
"Baby Beluga" was certified Double Platinum in North America (and more worldwide). It's a favorite of ours. Our children never tire of these songs, despite playing them over and over. Your child will love it very much. Some say it's the best children's album of all-time.
The song "Baby Beluga" is definitely the best children's song of all time. It's so easy to sing along with, and the words are just great! Share Baby Beluga with your child(ren).
Our all-time Raffi favorites are:
-"The Singable Songs Collection" (his first 3 masterpiece albums in one value-priced collection).
-"A Young Children's Concert With Raffi" (an astonishingly magical concert video).
This is the best children's music you can buy.
