Baby MacDonald is a wonderful video! It's filled with colour, movement, beautiful music, and charming video clips of farms around the world...there's everything from windmills in Holland and wheat fields in the Prairies to rice paddies in Asia. There's so much to look at in this video (including lots of animals!), my son never gets bored of it.
Also cute are the puppet shows inserted into the video...my son loves them. There's one where a cow is picking apples and they keep falling on her head, another where pigs are going down a slide into a mud puddle that my son giggles at every time!
This video is so cute that I really enjoy watching it with my son. I plan on getting more BE videos and I hope there are others as good as this one. (I already bought Baby Galileo and it was a HUGE disappointment!)
If you enjoy farms, animals, or the outdoors, get this video for your baby! Note: The DVD is better than the video because the special features are great--about another 20 minutes of puppets shows, singing, and stories!

As an Iowa farm girl mom who just moved back to the Heartland with my under-two daughter, I was thrilled to see this new edition of Einstein! Since she was about 8 months old, she's been watching the world of Baby Einstein and I've enjoyed seeing the educational advances along the way (she's 20 months now).
While I haven't really sat down to watch the whole thing with her, I do like the catchy tunes (Old MacDonald & Farmer in the Dell). The puppets and animals are fun and pretty accurate. The equipment and actions are good too. Although I have to agree with some other reviewers that some of the music/pace seems slow and dull when it could be more upbeat.
Still, she LOVES it! She asked for "mcdonalds" every day for a month after we got it! She gets a kick out of singing E-i-e-i-o and doing the animal sounds like she's learned from other toys and reading other books. She is obsessed with animals and liked the World Animals & Neighborhood Animals videos a lot when she was younger.
Now she seems more interested in Little People videos because they have a storyline and characters to hold her attention not just mesmerize her with music and quick-changing images. But for 18 months and younger, Baby Einstein does it right!

The good things about this DVD are:
1. The animals
2. The farm scenes, especially the ones that show the various methods of ploughing the fields.
3. The puppet skits don't repeat the same thing over and over again.
4. The Old MacDonald song
5. The song set to the Farmer in the Dell tune.
6. The pigs sliding into the mud puddle.
7. Has some good extras and not just flash cards and toy lists.
The not-so-good things about this DVD:
1. Too much of the music is slow, when it should be upbeat. Why plough to a lullaby?
2. Younger children like it, but it's not easy adult viewing. This DVD puts me to sleep.
3. Some of the content is for babies, some for toddlers, but as a whole it doesn't hold the interest over 24 months.
My son is now too old for the Baby Einstein series, and it's time to move on. It's been a great three years, and definitely essential viewing for children.
Thank you Baby Einstein, and goodbye.

Our 12 month old has every single DVD Baby Einstein makes! We just added Baby Mac Donald to our collection for an early Easter gift (I couldn't wait actually! Wanted to see the newest one!) Our baby LOVES animals and this was a great addition from the World and Neighborhood Animals DVDs. The Old Mac Donald songs are a fun feature too she rocks and dances in her own way to them! Her favorite is still Baby Galileo..something about that baby Kangaroo! I would highly recommend all these DVD's to anyone and this is coming from a mother who is not too hip on TV! I think the old fashioned get out and play instead of being camped out in front of the tube is our households rules...these DVD's are made to teach. Our baby as well as our 5 year old LOVE THEM and have both learned so much from what we have observed! Thank you again Julie Clark and Disney!!

That is the best way to describe my daughter's reaction to this video. Packed with beautiful images and classical music in between skits and children's songs such as Old McDonald, this video engages my daughter time after time. She sings, dances, and has started to name the animals and farm equipment as it apprears on the screen. This video is not to long or too short.
My suggestion to the reviewer who wanted to remind everyone that TV is bad for their children is that he/she watch the video. This video is nothing like TV. The images move slowly and they remain on the screen for some time. After watching it for the first time, adults would find this video eye-crossingly boring, but all the toddlers I know really enjoy the songs, skits and colorful scenes.

my 20-month-old is obsessed with animals, so we decided to try this one out. needless to say, she definitely liked it. i do think it's a possibility that younger ones might not follow it as well because it does require a bit more concentration than the others, but it does a great job introducing the life on the farm, and even the littlest ones will like the animals and the puppet shows. i think this is one they won't outgrow anytime soon. anyway, my daughter is really at the stage now where she can comprehend a good bit, and loves her fisher price little people farm, so with her this dvd was a big hit. i think her absolute favorite though is the numbers nursery dvd. :) overall, a wonderful way to teach little ones about the farm life and animals!
