I am a psychologist who teaches child psychology, a mother of a toddler, and a big fan of the "Baby Songs" videos. Unlike the other Baby Songs videos, however, the "Rock and Roll" tape jumps quickly from shot to shot, often focusing in closely on small parts of the pictures. Several of the videos that accompany the songs even focus in on pictures turned sideways and go quickly back and forth from color to black and white. While this appears to be an attempt to mimic adult music videos, this is not the best format for children. My toddler has a difficult time following it, to the point that it simply does not hold his attention. (The other Baby Songs tapes are great at holding his attention throughout.) In addition, this type of programing -- quick jumping -- has been linked to decreased creativity over the long run in children. I recommend another "Baby Songs" video over the "Rock and Roll" tape.
