"If you follow a structured routine, you will solve all your baby problems" is the idea of this book.

The routine explained in the book is called E.A.S.Y. (Eating, Activity, Sleeping, You). The author explains that the times of the individual elements of the routine will vary according to the baby, but every baby should have a routine if you want to have a life. Eating, Activity, Sleeping and Making Time for yourself are very well explained in the book in an easy-to-read way.

If you are breastfeeding, you may not feel any support reading this book, and I can even say that you may get discouraged reading some sections. Although I do not agree with some of the author's ideas on feeding, I would recommend this book if you are looking to establish sleep routines for your baby. I would not use this book as my only source of information on topics mentioned in the book.

I am deeply saddened by Tracy's untimely death just a few months ago. It is comforting to keep in mind that her knowledge and advice in her books and videos will continue to guide parents in a positive direction.
Tracy had the "know-how" of calming even the most challenging infant, because she really seemed to understand their language. Because she offered strategies based on the personality of the parents as well as the temperament and personality of the baby, she offers quizes in this book to help parents identify which intervention plan would work best. Believing that babies need to become part of the family - rather than dominate it - Tracy has developed a practical program that parents can begin using at one day old.
My only criticism of this book is that there was not enough information relating to specific challenging behaviors of my 3- year-old. The title implies that this book covers issues through age 3. I found the majority of the book addresses a variety of issues focusing on babies under 2.
If you have a 2, 3, 4, or 5-year-old, I wish to recommend an A-Z pocket-sized guide I discovered in my pediatrician's office called "The Pocket Parent." This book is written entirely for parents with 2-6 year olds and offers hundreds of suggestions that focus on stopping toddler/preschooler behaviors that can drive you close to your wit's end such as bad words, biting, tantrums, sibling fights, the gimmes, morning crazies, power struggles, lying and whining. Both books address what to do in the heat of the moment as well as how to make a plan to prevent the same behavior from happening again; I found that insight very helpful. Both "THE BABY WHISPERER SOLVES ALL YOUR PROBLEMS" and "THE POCKET PARENT" are excellent additions to your home reference library.

This book has seen us through my son's first 15 months with great success. Of course, the injunction to know your own child the best and to thoughtfully discern what he or she needs is primary - over any help-book or technique! - but my husband and I customized Tracy's methods to our son and found them very helpful.
I really think that his ability to put himself to sleep and to self-soothe can be significantly attributed to the sleep training we did with him from the get-go. In our case, following a schedule was great - he seems to thrive on some level of predictability. For us, pick-up-put-down didn't work applied strictly as Tracy suggested, but a custom-version did, and he (a delightful, very strong willed, and intense little boy) soon learned that while we were there to help him and comfort him, we 'believed in him' in the sense that we believed and 'expected' he could go to sleep. Step by step, he learned to do it, with less and less help from us as he went. This skill of 'putting oneself to sleep' is invaluable. At 15 months old, he is very confident in his ability to put himself to sleep.

I cannot emphasize enough how much I think parents should read and apply (again, with discernment, selectively applying to YOUR particular child and circumstance) the principles in this book!!! It is a really great tool. (I've just talked about sleep in my review, but she addresses a lot of other things well here too!). Buy this book! Buy it for showers! Encourage moms to read it before their kid is even born!!

http://mom-notony.blogspot.ca/2013/11/book-review-baby-whisperer-solves-all.html

The Baby Whisperer Solves all your Problems, by Tracy Hogg, is an incredibly practical, relatable and relevant book which lovingly guides you into caring for your child. Tracy Hogg bases her child rearing on the acronym E.A.S.Y. and it is a life saver for any new (and old) parent! E.A.S.Y. is a simple routine that keeps everyone happy - Eat, Activity, Sleep and You time. In the book she gives general schedule guidelines, eating practices, sleep routines, potty training advice and Q and A. To be brief, it covers pretty much every topic and question you may have about the first year of life and into toddlerhood.

The highest praise I can give this book, however, is the results I had from it. I followed the advice presented in this book almost exactly and both of my boys were sleeping through the night when they were 3 months old. Little A began sleeping through the night at 2 months old! I highly recommend this book, and have recommended it to other parents as well. I'm sure it will get well worn like my copy and it will serve as a reference book for you as your family grows. I simply can't say enough!
