Product Description

Description

Synopsis: Babylon 5: The Legend of the Rangers is a two-hour television movie created by J. Michael Straczynski (original creator of the Babylon 5 series) for the Sci-Fi Channel. The telefilm takes place in 2264 after the wars are over and a new age of space exploration has begun. The Interstellar Alliance has been organized to establish and maintain peace among its member worlds, including Earth. The Rangers are an elite military force made up of hand-picked young, smart, dedicated human and alien members who combine the high-tech elements of space travel with the idealism and honor of the knights of old. They encounter a previously unknown alien race whose lethal power is far greater than any force previously known to Earth or any other world in the Interstellar Alliance.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Return of Babylon 5 and G'Kar!, May 30 2007
By

This review is from: Babylon 5: The Legend of the Rangers (DVD)
This movie was great, no matter what people say.

It's good for these reasons:

1-G'Kar plays a mentor role to our young captain

2-Our young captain is an intriguing and dynamic character to watch

3-There's a Narn engineer!

4-The story of the Rangers needs to be told and known more fully in the Babylon 5 Universe and this movie accomplishes this.

5-It's incredibly action packed!!!

Yes, the special effects are not so great (the budget must have been much lower than that of Crusade or even some of the other Babylon 5 Movies);

Yet the story and the characters and the Universe is compelling.

This movie deserves to be seen by all Babylon 5 fans

3.0 out of 5 stars Virtual reality weapons????, Sep 16 2011

Jason C Street (Toronto, Ontario Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Babylon 5: The Legend of the Rangers (DVD)
As a Babylon Five Fan, I found this movie lacking in depth and intrigue. It certainly had a lot of action, if that is what you are looking for. However most of the characters lacked maturity with the Exception of G'Kar. What really was the most ridiculous part of the movie was ( I can't even begin to describe ) the weapons systems of the ship, where an angry women "floats" in a virtual space simulation and punches and kicks (for want of a better description) at other enemy ships/targets, screams, yells and generally gets herself worked up into a sweat, as the ships computer interprets here actions as targeting and shooting at the enemy.... You really have to see it to know. Have fun...

3.0 out of 5 stars better visually than I expected, April 26 2011
This review is from: Babylon 5: The Legend of the Rangers (DVD)
the Babylon 5 series has always been a little corny but in a good way once you get used to it.

visually the movie is far better than the original B5 and that's all good, I wish the actors trained more in hand to hand for the sake of looking professional during fights but that's quite a bit to ask of any movie let alone one done on a tight budget.

the only real problems with Legend of the Rangers was the Virtual holo tank that was for targeting enemy ships in battle and the cheeks of the spy which were just plain silly... he looked pretty neat save for the weird stuff poking out of his cheeks...... as for the holo tank it was literally the absolute worst idea ever conceived in every way, they must have known it was brutal and ran out of money leaving them with no way to get rid of or fix it.

just plain a really bad idea, if you watch it you'll know what I mean.... almost ruined the whole movie it was so bad.

overall I give the movie a 5 out of 10 and a 7.5 out of 10 genre rating... for a B5 movie it was ok, script needed work and the holo tank really needed to be scrapped and done in a more conventional way but aside from that it wasn't too bad which for B5 is ok.

I'll watch it a few times more in the future to be sure.
