Bob Marley's second live album, Babylon By Bus, from 1978, had to be pretty damned good to match the incandescence of 1975's Live!. But with glorious performances on songs like "Punky Reggae Party", "Is This Love?" and "Jamming", they came close to equalling it. Maybe there wasn't quite the same amount of inspiration, but the Wailers had matured into a tight unit with Marley the charismatic leader, as this set shows well. And with Marley still at the height of his writing powers, there wasn't a dud song in the bunch. Not so much bus travel as limousine listening. This specially remastered edition makes the glory of the original release even clearer. --Chris Nickson

Product Description

5.0 out of 5 stars You'll see...It's really alive Jan 11 2004
Format:Audio CD
As the title try to say, you can feel the European feelings, and that positive vibrations that reggae music spread all over countries, for instance, Denmark, Germany, France, etc. with utterly different customs, cultures and languages. The best live album ever released by the wailers features the strongest version of 'Exodus', as well as the most powerful version of 'The Heathen'.
The wide variety of songs, extracted from differents album, make it really interesting and easy to listen to, even for those who don't like listening to reggae music.
This album released in 1978, before 'Survival' and as a preface of the trilogy composed by 'Survival, Uprising 'and 'confrontation', has been remastered in 2001 and it's an excellent selection (of outstanding performances) of hits played during an European tour in Copenhague, Berlin, Paris, etc.
It also include 'Punky reggae party' (of course alive), which for reggae lovers, it's like the bible for those who are devoted to religion.
To put it briefly, 'Babylon By Bus' should be in every reggae collection and thus, I am sure henceforward a better live reggae album will not be released.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible Energy Jan 5 2004
Format:Audio CD
This has been one of my favorite albums for a long time.I really cannot imagine what it would have been like to be there at this concert. I like most live cds but sometimes you don't feel the energy of the concert. Somehow this does the trick beautifully. During all of the songs you can tell their band is just rockin'. They are so in tune to each other. There isn't a bad song on the cd. Even though it is nearly impossible to choose a favorite Bob Marley cd I'd say this is mine. I just love this cd. I would reccomend it to anyone who likes music. I think you will all enjoy it. in fact if you don't you should post a review on here and tell me. I'll be checking.

5.0 out of 5 stars Catch the Bus Nov 27 2003
By S.B.
Format:Audio CD
If I had to recommened only one album by Mr. Marley, it would have to be this one. Like most people, I've picked up Legend, then moved onto his albums. When I finally got around to this album, I noticed that all of the songs were well-known one's, so I was pretty excited to hear them live. I was not disappointed. As soon as the cd starts, you hear the crowd going nuts, with the opening of Positive Vibration. There is so much energy in just the first 15 seconds you will be compeled to listen to it the whole way through. And that energy is there throughout. The songs that had a slower tempo on the album versions have been picked up, and the change is amazing (like Exodus and Stir It Up). The band is excellent here...the rhythms could put you in a trance, and once the vocals come in...you can just close your eyes and BE THERE at the concert(s). Get this cd, and skank your ass off!
