1.Prince of Darkness: Who can even write lyrics like this anymore? OMG...and then the harmonies, guitar work, individual vocals and to boot ...a live performance where Indigo is at their best. It just doesn't get any better than this! I love both of their voices so much! This one gets people at live concerts going for sure! Yum!

2.Kid Fears: This is a cool version of the song. I prefer the version they did collaborating with Michael Stipes from R.E.M. but I also like this version as it was a slower more harmonius version between the two of them. This is one of my favorite Indigo Girls songs. I have the version with Michael Stipes on my favorite playlist for several years and this version I also put on another playlist too. Amy's voice in this is so intense at pivotal moments in the song. It is such a good song about the kid's fears in all of us! It seems like it is a commentary also on how when we are kid's are problems seem so simple in comparison to what they become when we are adults! So many ways to interpret their lyrics sometimes I wish I could just climb into their brains for a day! Ha! Ha!

3.Left Me A Fool: Love the acoustic guitar on this song. One of the best songs lyrically written. They have a wide range of songwriting lyrically that is always surprising & keeps them relevant. This is just so beautifully sung by both of them. Definetly a song about a love that has been a huge betrayal one filled with shame at her expense. It is just one of the songs that rarely comes around and we are all better off from having the good fortune to hear it.

4.All Along The Watchtower: Wow I was surprised when they pulled this Bob Dylan song out of their hat's to perform. The intricate guitar work they perform on this song is beyond written description..yes, that well done. There have been many that have done versions of this song; my favorite is still Jimi Hendrix (and Dylan himself of course) but I like the different way they vocally presented this song. It almost sounded like a different song altogether...that's the sign of great musicians..when they can take a song & make it their own! I have this version on a playlist on my Mp3 player ...but Hendrix's version is on my favorite playlist! Great job though ladies!

5.1 2 3 (Studio Version): The guitars sound so good in this song. I love this song for the angst it projects...Amy is so good at these songs...songs of injustice, protestations....her voice just gives it that rage that it requires. Of course Emily is always so good vocally...providing a sweet, clear vocal that marries well with Amy. One of the best guitar compositions around; even still today. They are so good live that I could see them every week if possible!

These were my favorite tracks on the CD; hope you all get to hear them to enjoy as well! Cheers!

5.0 out of 5 stars It Blows Me Away!, Nov 8 1999

While I am normally not a fan of cover tunes (as they are usually not performed well at all, i.e. they are RUINED), I was blown away by the Indigo Girls' cover of the Dylan tune "All Along the Watchtower." It's even better than the Hendrix version, which is saying a WHOLE LOT about the raw power and talent of this incredible female duo.

The entire album is intense, with lyrical power, guitar work that blows me away, and a certain presence that makes one feel as if he or she were really at the concert.

I recommend that this album be played at HIGH volume, preferably with a group of screaming Indigo Girls fans present. It's not a CD you can listen to sitting down.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great first live album, July 9 2000

Once again, I was thrilled out of my mind to get my hands/ears on yet another piece of work by the girls, but I was a bit disappointed when my least favorite song ("1 2 3") was on this not only once, but twice! It's not just a personal bias, but the song itself sounds least like what the band usually comes out with.

Hearing the crowd sing with the performers and the live sound made it worth it, however... not to mention the song "All Along the Watchtower" which was not released as a studio version. Great for collectors and fans, but probably not a good "intro" into the band's music.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice enough for fans, but not essential, Jan 30 2007

The Girls' record company must have been impatient for more product from them, since this (mostly)live EP appeared in 1991, only 9 months after their third studio album, "Nomads, Indians, Saints". The first six tracks are live versions of songs from their first three albums. They don't differ significantly from the studio cuts in arrangements. But, the Indiogos and their backing band perform them with a lot of passion and soul, sounding more raw and immediate. The seventh track is a raucous cover of Bob Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower" performed by just the two Girls, evidently as an encore. It's somewhere inbetween the folky Dylan acoustic original and the energy of Hendrix's electric cover. Done well enough, although I could have done without Amy Ray's improvised new lyrics at the end. This is the only Indigos CD which has this song, for all those collectors out there.

The most annoying thing about this release is the last track. For some reason, they tack on the original studio version of "1-2-3", from "Nomads.." The CD opens with a live version of the same song, which is just fine. Maybe they were trying to promote it as a single or something, but it's entirely unnecessary.

That's a small nitpick, though. This CD is a nice sampler of the Girls live. A better suggestion, though is the "1200 Curfews" double live disc which came out four years later. You get two full CD's of performances which cover a decade or so, a much better sampling of their live talents with originals and covers. That's well worth the money. If you're in love with that one, then come back and get an inexpensive copy of this. It makes a nice companion piece to "1200 Curfews."
