Book Description

Utah skiers claim to have "the greatest snow on earth," and this revised and updated edition guides readers to the best backcountry ski tours in the state. Backcountry expert Tyson Bradley takes skiers from the urban backcountry of the Wasatch Front to spectacular desert destinations in Zion and Bryce, with detailed maps and information on backcountry equipment, techniques, and safety. Ski Utah!

From the Back Cover

Home to the greatest snow on Earth, Utah offers some of the best terrain and easiest access to backcountry skiing in the United States. Jump into the couloirs, cruise the pristine open slopes, and ski through the glades that can only be found outside ski area boundaries.
Backcountry ski guide, avalanche-safety instructor, and author Tyson Bradley describes sixty-five tours with hundreds of descents from the Wasatch Range to the remote Tushar, Abajo, and Henry Mountains. Trip planning, avalanches, and route finding techniques are all covered.
Inside you'll find: information on length, vertical relief, difficulty of each tour; the best time of the year to ski different routes; the essential equipment needed for alpine touring, telemarking, and snowboarding; detailed topographic maps.
Backcountry Skiing Utah is an indispensable resource for planning safe day trips and extended ski tours in the mountains of the Beehive State.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great off-the-beaten-tract ski tours, Mar 22 2008
By C. W. Price - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Backcountry Skiing Utah, 2nd (Paperback)
I'm very pleased with this guide book. It's taken me to many places I would not have thought to go ski touring. Whenever our small group of ski tourers gets tired of the tri-canyon SLC area, we break out Bradley's book and head someplace new for the day. It's a must have for the serious Utah ski tourer.

5.0 out of 5 stars great if you're serious about the backcountry, May 15 2010
By K. Dubois "powder hound" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Backcountry Skiing Utah, 2nd (Paperback)
I recently moved from MT to Utah and I love going into the backcountry with my splitboard (and a buddy/shovel/probe/transceiver/avalanche report of course!). This book describes in great detail what the terrain is like (both in terms of steepness, difficulty and avalanche danger); what time of the year is best to hit a particular area; and which are the best approach routes.
