Book Description

June 14 2010

“[A] paean to pork.”

Boston Herald

A love letter to the “best meat ever,” Bacon, by unabashed bacon enthusiast Heather Lauer, is a wondrous collection of bacon bits—filled with fun facts, recipes, history, and smoked porcine worship. The Memphis Commercial Appeal says, “If you can make it to the end of this book without craving just a taste of the savory stuff, then you’re probably the world’s strongest vegetarian.” Adoring, entertaining, and informative—sizzling with Lauer’s infectious passion for her mouthwatering subject—Bacon is the next best thing to bacon wrapped in bacon.

1.0 out of 5 stars Vile book Oct. 12 2014
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Absolutely disgusting. If you are going to write a book about meat then do include all of the facts. How they are raised (normally in crates unable to move), what happens to the babies that are weak (smashed into the floor) and then how they are killed This needs to be graphic, no animal wants to die for the sake of your taste buds.

Now even if I didn't care about animals everyone knows how bad bacon is for your health anyway so why on earth you are promoting it is beyond me.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fun read for bacon-lovers Dec 20 2009
By Gen of North Coast Gardening - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
Bacon fans will definitely want to read all the odd stories, history, and modern uses of bacon in this fun, breezy read. I read it over the course of a few months, just picking it up here and there with a strip of bacon and a hefty glass of ice water, and it was fun to get some new ideas for how to eat bacon, and some definite ideas that I do NOT want to try (Paula Deen's bacon/ beef/ egg sandwich encased between two glazed donuts - EW!). All in all, a fun read for the bacon fans among us...

My husband loves bacon and I bought this book for him after seeing an article about it in our local newspaper. He has never laughed so hard! And it's all so true!

1.0 out of 5 stars People taste like bacon too. Would you torture, enslave and murder them too for the taste? Oct. 12 2014
By Cat - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I detest any promotion of murder of animals. The story of cruelty for taste is egregious.

Did you know that pigs are smarter than dogs? Do realize the horror of torture, enslavement and unimaginable pain and suffering pigs endure for your taste? Would you eat your dog if it tasted like bacon? Apparently people taste like bacon so..... would you torture, enslave and murder people for your taste buds?

Animals breath air like us, having emotions and feel like us and experience the worst horrors inflicted by man so you can eat on their corpses.

The only good thing this book is good for, is starting a fire.
