Lacking in Bad Boys and Expensive Toys,

This novel was actually 3 stories that only linked because they were supposed to be about bad boys and expensive toys.
The first story had neither of these. The boy was a union negotiator, hardly bad. And the toy was a poodle? The second was better. The boy was a computer geek, hardly bad. But he made neat gadget toys. The third had a bad boy, a player as the author put it. But I found no expensive toys in sight, unless a computer program is now a toy? Disappointing.

Bad Boys With Expensive Toys has three hot and steamy stories by three favorite authors.
The Fourteen Million Dollar Poodle by Nancy Warren has Vince Grange a tough and manly labor negotiator who inherits a rich toy poodle. This poodle only answers to French, so Vince hires a nanny. Sophie Veneau agrees to watch Mimi, but her owner Vince is make her heart race. Vince is having serious problems with Sophie he wants her for himself. Nancy Warrens story is funny and sexy, it's a must read. MaryJanice Davidson's The World Is Too Darned Big has Dr. Ben Dyson wishing he could use the fancy spy gadgets he makes to help safe the world. He gets his chance when spy Tara Marx falls into his willing lap. Tara Marx is working to retrieve some stolen Intel. She wasn't planning on a spy wannabe helping. Ben and Tara's wit and passion will make you laugh and swoon. MaryJanice delivers another story that will tickle your funny bone and steam up your night. Karen Kelley's in Anything You Can Do... has playboy Alex Cannedy being a roommate for a week with the one woman he promised not to touch. He promised his sister that he would not make a move on her new hubby's best friend Kagen Yates. But all bets are off when Kagen throws a dare that Alex can't last 48 hours before he gives in to his desires. What follows is an amusing and sexy game of one upmanship. BAD BOYS WITH EXPENSIVE TOYS. Just the title alone makes you want to pick up the book. But Karen Kelley's novella, ANYTHING YOU CAN DO, makes it worth the read all by itself.
A hunky computer entrepreneur, Alex Cannedy pinky-swears to his sister to leave her hubby's best friend, Kagen Yates, alone. Seems Alex has a history of lovin' `em and leavin' `em. But Alex and Kagen must share the newlyweds' apartment for a week and unfortunately Kagen has lovin' on her mind. When Alex acts uninterested, she tries every dirty trick in the book to make him cave. And watching Alex squirm under the pressure is pure delight. The race is on to see who will win in this sexy romp that sizzles with sexual tension. The lovin' steams up the windows when Alex has finally had all he can take and Kagen gets just what she deserves. The fourteen million dollar poodle: Nancy Warren (2 stars)
Vince Grange is not really the guy you would picture having a spoiled French poodle so when he inherits one from his grand aunt he is a little "overwhelmed" . The catch: The poodle is worth 14 million dollars and Vince is going to get that money sometime - but only if the poodle dies of natural causes. If the poodle dies of unnatural causes the money goes to Vinces' money chasing cousins. Can you see where this story is going ? The plot was so predictable I almost couldn't believe it . Anyway, the spoiled poodle only speaks French so Vince hires a Sophie, a nanny from France to take care of the poodle . I'm just not going to say more because you can see the plot from miles away and I couldn't get myself to care about the hero or the heroine. The world is too darned big: MaryJanice Davidson (3.5 stars) Benjamin Dyson is a geek with tons of doctor titles who designs gadgets for the CIA or Secret Service . One of the devices he designed is a key card that gives you access to every room worldwide. The key gets in the hands of some bad guys and when Tara Marx shows up at Dysons' door he teams up with her to get the key back . I liked the story because it's written funny, and Ben and Tara aren't the typical hero / heroine . However, there wasn't really any romance there and I just skipped the part at the end with their HEA because it just didn't strike me as real . Anything you can do...: Karen Kelley (3.5 stars) Ok, I don't know what this story had to do with the name of the book - the hero might be a bad boy but there weren't any expensive toys in a ten mile range - but it was my favorite of the three novellas . Alex is a player and he moves into his sisters apartment to finish a computer program while she is on honeymoon. What he doesn't know is that his sisters husband hired an interior designer to redecorate the apartment while they are gone. So Alex is stuck with a roommate . And Kagen is the woman he is attracted too but he also made a promise to his sister to not seduce her. Anyway, Kagen is more than willing to seduce Alex and it's very funny because they both try to turn each other on but they are also trying to fight the attraction they have for the other person . It's a pretty nice and hot love story and it's the story that saved this anthology for me. |
