Product Description

From Publishers Weekly

Not-quite-by-the-book FBI agents Tozzi and Gibbons ( Bad Guys ; Bad Blood ) return here in another hilarious adventure. Trump-ish tycoon Russell Nashe is about to open Atlantic City's biggest casino. He owes $5 million to Sal Immordino, acting head of the Mistretta "family." Nashe hasn't got the money, and Sal must receive it before Mistretta's imminent release from jail. In desperation, Nashe and Sal fix a championship fight held in Nashe's casino. Tozzi, undercover as a Nashe bodyguard, is boffing Nashe's glamorous wife, Sydney--and so is Sal--but each is irritated by her efforts to quiz them about Nashe's plans. Hothead Tozzi is about to be yanked back to the office when he persuades older, sometimes wiser Gibbons to help. Gibbons jumps at the chance to escape his desk job and his longtime girlfriend's preoccupation with their upcoming wedding. Of course it's out of the frying pan and into the fire: the duo encounters various thugs, members of the fight "game," hangers-on and Sal's memorable sister, a nun involved with the Mob up to her wimple. The climax at the bout is lethal, funny and satisfying.

Book Description

"The pacing far exceeds the legal requirements for crime thriller. Bad Luck, a novel filled to the brim with born losers, turns up a lucky seven."-People

Bad Luck, the third book in the Gibbons and Tozzi thriller series, takes FBI agents Mike Tozzi and Cuthbert Gibbons to Atlantic City to investigate shady dealings between the mob and a celebrity real-estate mogul. Add an oversexed trophy wife, a Mafia boss who pretends to be a mental patient, his sister the nun, a championship prizefight, and Gibbons' reluctant wedding preparations, and Bad Luck serves up a hilarious killer cocktail.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Bad" Books = Good Reading, Aug 17 2005

This review is from: BAD LUCK (Hardcover)
Bruno's books about wildcard fibbies, Gibbons and Tozzi, versus the mob go down smooth like a cold one on a hot afternoon in da Bronx! These are all one sitting reads, 'cause you can't put them down after the opening explosions.

Bruno's use of realistic lingo and action combine to create a movie in the mind. He must be a made man, cause he sure has the scat down. And, between Gibbons' perpetual grouchiness and Tozzi's hotdogging, the feds never looked so good.

It's hard to single out a favorite. Bruno runs the series like a steady play. Continuous characters allow you to get to know both the good guys and the bad guys well. The real hero in the series, though, has gotta be Bruno himself, who keeps them all believable and real.
