From School Library Journal
Grade 3-8 - Beginning with a well-organized contents page listing 32 recipes under four headings - "Holidays," "For Special People," "Seasons," and "Just for Fun" - this book is sure to please bakers. The step-by-step instructions (three to six per recipe) are easy to follow, and the ingredients/tools listed are readily available or easily obtainable. Suggestions for variations and packaging are offered. Easter egg nests, pinwheels, crazy daisies, magic cookie wands, and honeybees, among other treats, are especially appealing for their creative design, color, and sparkle effects. Each recipe is accompanied by precise, softly colored illustrations. This well-designed title will encourage an interest in baking and is a fine addition along with Sarah A. Williamson's
Bake the Best-Ever Cookies (Ideals, 200l) and Mary Hill's
Let's Make Cookies (Scholastic, 2002).
