This is what it says it is a manual. I see people trying to buy this book expecting it to be everything they ever need to know about pythons and then they are dissapointed. This is not a pet guide but a manual. This is a remarkable tool to owning a python. It lists many diseases a python might have,How to check the python for the diseases and how to treat them. Its a must for an owner because if you plan to have the snake for 20-30 years the chances are it will get sick more then once. This book has some great facts for begginers on selecting and housing a snake. Don't buy this book thinking this is all what you need. Its a trouble shooting manual and not a book on how to become one with ur pet, but if you are serious about owning a python or already have one this book is a MUST have. Other then that the next edition should have a better trouble shooting index and more photos on treatment and afflictions in color. There are only a few books that are easy to find on the Ball python and this is one of the best out there.

I may be the only person ever to read this book that doesn't think it's a landmark in herpetocultural literature. Oh well. For the record, I found the information sound, and I was pleased by the book's wealth of information about snake ailments. However, this is not a book for anyone who does not already know how to care for his or her Python regius. The discussion of basic care information is, I thought, inadequate, and De Vosjoli in particular seems to regard these snakes as incredibly delicate, look-but-don't-touch animals. If you are interested in ball pythons, buy this book, but don't buy *only* this book.

Ball pythons are increasingly popular as pets, but the uninformed owner may have problems with feeding, shedding, etc. This book, by widely respected authorities, provides concise and practical information to make ball python ownership rewarding for snake and keeper. On internet mailing lists and newsgroups, when new ball python keepers ask for information, often they are referred to this book. The Ball Python Manual describes pattern variations, guidelines for selecting a healthy snake, housing, feeding, handling, and quite a bit more including disorders in ball pythons.

I found that the book is very informative about ball python breeding and husbandry. It also gives information about diseases and how to treat and how to prevent them. I recently bought my first ball python and it helped me a lot. I named her MEDUSA. My mother and father are helping me, but I am doing most of the work. I am 11 years old and I love reptiles. My mother is the one that has the membership here so it is under her name. My name is Mitchel Yorks.

I found a lot of valuable information in this book. I have been raising Ball Pythons for years and let me tell you I wish had found this book a long time ago. The information in this book is vital especially because of the "bad advice" and "old wives tales" that have been circulating about this breed the last decade. A must for all serious ball python owners and enthusiasts.

I have owned The Ball Python Manual for a year now, (I got it through Amazon.com) and it is refreshing to find a text that gives an owner IMPORTANT factual information about the care and keeping of these magnificent (and docile) reptiles. My highest recommendation is given to anyone interested in the husbandry of Royal (Ball) Pythons.
