From Booklist
Inspector Christy Kennedy, the music-loving police officer from London's Camden Town, returns in this fourth installment in the series. Circles, a rock band that's been around for a couple of decades, is on the verge of a major comeback when its lead singer, Wilko Robertson, is murdered. The list of suspects is long--it includes Wilko's partner, songwriter Sean Green, and a host of music-world colleagues--but its numbers are reduced by one when another man is murdered--killed, like Wilko, in a room locked from the inside. Once again, readers with an interest in the contemporary music industry will find much here to delight them, but even those whose musical knowledge begins and ends with Beethoven will enjoy this smart, charmingly written mystery. (Incidentally, fans who've been waiting for something unexpected to happen in the relationship between Kennedy and his lover, journalist ann rea, won't want to miss this one.) This series is far too little known in the U.S. It's time for that to change. David Pitt
