I've got news for Angela Rippon: snapping your fingers twice to a 2 second riff doesn't give novices a clue as to what music's what! If this is truly for beginners, then why not completely clear the floor of visually distracting background images, slow down, let us consistently see and continuously talk us through the foot moves, and begin it all by letting us in on how to identify the beat & music each dance demands? The long shots of instructors' movements around the ballroom serve only to fuzzify the steps just shown and there's too much verbal reassurance that everything's easy, and not enough proof with the step by step linking of moves and close ups. That being said, it does go through each of the dances as it claims to, and I'm sure I'll get beyond the irritants and learn from this via replays.

Easy to Follow Instructional DVD July 24 2012
By Desert Dancer - Published on
Format: DVD Verified Purchase
This DVD has easy to follow instructions for learning the Waltz, Quick Step, Tango, Cha Cha, and Jive. At first, I was hesitant to buy it because no one else had reviewed it and I have bought some dance instructional DVDs that weren't very good. But, my worries on this one were not justified! It is excellent! The two instructors show you the dance steps slowly at first (both men's and women's) and then take it up to tempo. They also show additional steps and embellishments you can add to make it fancier. I also like that while they do explain the steps, they don't just stand there talking while you're waiting to get started! They get started right away on each segment teaching you the steps. You can do this DVD with or without a partner. They are very good about specifying "right foot" and "left foot" and the men's and ladies' steps AND they show full body shots and feet shots (not close-ups of the faces like some dance DVDs...really we need to see the feet and bodies).
The DVD also has a brief written history of each dance and a short written biography of each instructor.
Just a note...the couple dancing on the cover of the DVD aren't in the DVD, neither is that dip pose.

Very basic Jan. 13 2013

A lot of extra chatter before getting to the nitty gritty and not as much instruction as I was expecting. Very basic.

This CD on dancing was great. I really enjoyed listening to it. It was very basic and easy to follow the steps. The instructors in this video were excellent. I would highly recommend this to anyone thinking about learning to dance.

Ballroom Dancing Made Easy, does what it says, easy to follow. Enjoyed following their steps and helped us to be able to dance to more music.
It's alright Feb. 6 2013

It the typical "how to" DVD. It was good enough but learning in person is much easier than with a DVD.
