Product Description

Are there spiritual truths to be gleaned from the world of baseball? Borrowing colorful anecdotes from America’s favorite pastime, David B. Smith finds eternal lessons from the countless Dodger games he has watched – and often endured. From the ineptitude of Bob “Mr. Baseball” Uecker to the famous Kirk Gibson homer in ’88, we find renewed faith from an ancient book that actually starts out with: “In the big inning.”

5.0 out of 5 stars Questons Asked July 13 2012

Asked by one of his students, "Does God already know who's going to be saved and who's going to be lost?" Here comes the follow-up, 'Does He try hard to save even those He knows aren't going to make it?". He has a great answer, keep on thinking.

4.0 out of 5 stars coming from a woman - not a baseball fan Aug. 8 2012

This would be a fun devotional or simply a relaxing, yet challenging book for the baseball fan. David Smith uses baseball illustrations to present the gospel in easy to understand format. I do think this was written for guys, but it was still fun for a gal to read.

The random typos in the Kindle format seem typical, but it is worth ignoring those to enjoy a fresh perspective. As usual, compare Mr. Smith's theology to the Bible instead of following blindly. Overall, it is a great book for men, for speakers to find illustrations or short devotionals, or simply for run reading.

Really enjoyed the baseball stories. They were very funny and capitivating. The scriptural message was very good.
A great read.

I did not order this book and would not have ordered it even if it had been offered to me. I do not know who ordered in my name, but i do not read these kinds of books!! I had to give it a star to complete this, but otherwise would not have! Please remove this from my ordering history!!
