Beny Moré, Born Bartolomé Maximiliano Moré was the greatest singer Cuba has ever produced. His complete mastery of mambo, son, and the romantic boleros lent him a versatility unparalled to this day, and earned him a following that even today (I'm 26) appeals to listeners who never even had a chance to hear him while he was alive (he died 1963). Nevertheless his joyous, rambunctious, phrasing and tender romantic ballads thrill me everytime I hear them. Songs such as AMOR SIN FE, MATA SIGUARAYA, A ROMPER EL COCO remain close to my heart and stir nostalgic remembrances of times I wish I'd witnessed. Beny Moré is my idol.
