Book Description

April 7 2008 Horrible Histories
Readers can discover all the foul facts about the Barmy British Empire, including how a war started when a Brit was sitting on a stool, who wore a necklace made of 50 human skulls and why a British soldier used his own coffin as a wardrobe. With a bold new cover look and a heap of extra horrible bits and a quiz at the back of the book, these bestselling titles are sure to be a huge hit with yet another generation of Terry Deary fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book Dec 16 2003
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
All the books in this series are great! They present history in an interesting, humourous form. You can learn a lot about history and not even realize you're learning. If you're tired of dry, boring textbooks but still want to learn about history, these books are for you! (If you're British, this may not be the book for you, because even though the author is British, he doesn't hesitate to say the bad things about the British empire.)

Big fan of the "Horrible Histories" series and love Martin as an illustrator; but sorry, this one is just junk.

1.0 out of 5 stars Rubbish Nov 25 2012
By Mr. C. M. Burns - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
My little brother had this book but I felt compelled to read it after seeing the 'cruel Brittania' image on the front, this more or less sets the tone for the entire book, its almost as if the author is intentionally using his work to shoot down the British rather than teach kids about History.

Most countries previously under the Empire remain part of a British commonwealth to this very day so the British couldnt have been that bad!
