Classic tv at its best - not to be missed,

Barney Miller is a classic comedy and anyone who enjoys comedy will love it. Correction if you like good comedy you will love it. If you want swearing, stupid gags you won't like this one. The writing is amazing, cast is fabulous and that equals pure entertainment that is worth every penny. I was waiting for seasons 4-8 to be released but I didn't mind paying the cost for the entire set (I'd do this for other shows I like too). When I want to laugh I put in Barney Miller and it never disappoints. Interesting talented cast, quirky criminals, and pure comedy at its best. Seriously this is right up there with Bob Newhart as classic comedy. Prepare to laugh. I doubt you'll regret this purchase. When I finished watching all the episodes it just left me wanting more. So sad that there are only 8 seasons. I'd give this 10 stars if I could. So happy to own the whole set. Now if any studios are listening.... I would like the same for Streets of San Francisco, Nash Bridges, Murphy Brown, Diagnosis Murder, Love Boat, Scarecrow and Mrs King, The Nanny, Becker, I'm sure there are more but lets start with those.This set has given me so much pleasure and laughter it is worth twice the price and I'll enjoy it for years to come.

First of all, HAT'S OFF to Shout Factory for puting together this Brilliant T.V. show!The entire Barney Miller show... all 8 seasons, plus the entire first season of FISH (the spin-off) is included in this set. Picture and sound are all remastered and presented to us in its absoulute finest. If you enjoy collecting complete series of classic television shows on DVD, then this one is the best you will ever come across. Barney Miller is one of those feel-good comfort shows that makes you feel like you are one of the boys in the squad room. Like Mash,and Taxi Barney Miller is a comedy/drama show that deals with often serious subjects but adds a clever and yet subtle twist of comedy to it. The entire show takes place on a single set, which is the Police Detectives squad room at New York's 12th precinct(the old one two). The show takes us into the daily lives of several police detectives workling in New York City durring the late 70's/early 80's and delves into every possible kind of criminal activity you could think of. This set even includes the Original Pilot of Barney Miller that never made it called "the life and times of Captain Barney Miller' which uses a completely different cast of actors playing in a different version of the first episode that eventually made it to T.V. It even has a background Music added to the show which was eventually left out when the show finally got picked up. A detailed collectors book is also included in this set with tons of Extras which include interviews with Hal, and Max Gail (Wojo) as well as interviews with the writers of the show. This show will keep you entertained and wanting more and more. It took me almost 2 months to get through all 8 wonderful Seasons and I enjoyed every day of it. I Highly Recommend this set.

I loved this series when it was on, I loved it in reruns and I love it now but for a different reason than I thought I would. Maybe it takes some age to finally notice this but the real theme of this show is all about relationships between coworkers in a stressful environment and what true leadership can accomplish, not boffo laughs, (although there are many). This show should be required viewing for people in these stressful kind of occupations, (heck for any workplace) as it cumulatively and humourously shows you how to deal with the different types of personalities, demographics (and wingnuts) you'll meet in your career and how to cope with dealing with one or being one for that matter.This kind of stuff does not date one bit but will resound as long as there are outfits that are underfunded and overtasked.
