5.0 out of 5 stars AP Chem in its Prime April 29 2012
    Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I have read other AP chem textbooks to prepare students for the AP exam. Some of the books are just too complicated--in that it assumes you already touched base on the subject before, making the concepts hard to understand. Or on the other hand, the textbooks are just too easy--as in its almost like it just re-wrote Chemistry 12 again. To add a note on the "easy" textbooks, they have a small range in difficulty of questions to do. There are plenty of questions the AP exam can give you, and these textbooks only give you a few of them. This book is the right book for any highschool chemistry level student to learn from. It also prepares you for the exam with 3 full length ones and 3 diagnostic ones. Sidenote: I would use the full length ones once every week before the exam.

To begin, studying for the AP chemistry with this textbook would mean you will get a 5, BUT only if your committed. Give yourself time to comprehend each chapter--there are around 15 chapters covered in the exam. If you have given yourself time and also did every question at the end of the chapter, then you would have scored a high mark in the exam. Unless, your just amazing, like my friend who only studied gr.12 Chem and read this book 5 days before the exam and got a 5. This example, just proves how amazing this book is!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Review For AP exam and class Feb 20 2012

So when I first came into AP Chemistry I taught it would be very easy; well I was wrong. The first semester I barely managed a C in the class. Then I decided to buy Barron's AP Chemistry, and I reviewed it thoroughly. The next semester I managed an A in AP Chemistry and I obtained a 5 on the AP Chemistry test, which was unbelievable since I had performed so badly first semester. I truly recommend this book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Too many mistakes. Mar 1 2013

One problem equilibrium problem had 5 different mistakes. It is impossible for a student to learn what's going on with these sorts of errors. In addition there are few worked out solutions to problems just general statement about how problems are solved that don't necessarily pertain to the given section/question.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good to read and review. Won't recommend it if you need to do practice problems. May 13 2013

It's a good book to read from to review but I would not suggest doing the practice problems. Too many mistakes. Barron's is very in depth when trying to teach the concepts but its not the best book to do practice problems.
