5.0 out of 5 stars Great addition to a Cookbook Library Jan 14 2010
Format:Paperback
This is an excellent book. Every recipe I have tried has been delicious. Bars and squares are an easy alternative to cookies. Most of the recipes use basic pantry ingredients, but there is a small section that uses cake mixes. There is a good variety of recipes, something for every one. The Caramel Honey Pecan Bars (shown on the cover) are amazing!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my favorites! April 8 2010
Format:Paperback
This book is one I flip through often, both for recipes and for inspiration. I like to mix and match crust recipes with filling recipes and this book offers plenty of variety from fruity to nutty to no-bake to decadent and chocolaty. Short ingredient lists, easy preparation, great results and tips in the sidebars to help you out. Jill Snider's books are all faves of mine.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bars & Squares and yummies galore Dec 31 2006
By liongoddess - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I first saw this book at the local public library. It was on hold for another patron, but the librarian let me flip through it quickly. I saw so many recipes I wanted to try that it was scary.

Some of the recipes seem repetitive, but you get so many ideas and variations that it's worth the odd duplicate. I've made several of them for the police officers I work with (and they are a picky bunch) and never had any leftover.

The directions are clear & concise, the ingredients are generally common (I hate recipes that involve scouring the city for esoteric ingredients!), and the bars I've tried have been delicious. What more can an enthusiastic baker ask for?

This book has the best recipes for cookies and bars that I have found. I do a lot of baking for different groups in our church. Every recipe I have used I have had great reviews from the groups. The instructions are very good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Crazy for cookbooks Oct 6 2010

I'm a cookbook collector so I have about 300 cookbooks until now (and counting!) but let me tell you that this book is one of the best books I've ever bought! Recipes are awesome, easy to make, very clear instructions written in different colors, you know to make a difference between tips, ingredients, instructions, etc., even the paper of the book is excellent, of a very good quality. Althought I like to buy cookbooks with pictures of every recipe, and this one has only around 60-70 pictures, the pictures are so very good taken that you can get an idea of how all the recipes will look when you make them. All recipes are different, you know sometimes you read in a book "it includes 200 recipes" but the true is that to certain recipe the author writes, for example: "you can change lemon for orange, or add nuts instead of almonds" and for him/her this is a different recipe. In this book it does not happen, you really obtain more than 200 recipes plus additional tips for each one. I haven't made any of the recipes because with this book I ordered 4 more books and I like to read them as If they were novels! I know I'm crazy about cookbooks!, so I can't bake and read at the same time! But I'm an expert baker so I can tell you according with my experience that THIS IS THE BOOK! Trust me! Purchase this book is excellent
you won't be dissapointed. Congratulations to the author, Jill Snider, what an excellent book!
