The best compendium of modern TV animation layout and design currently available. These artists revolutionized TV animation, and this book is something that everyone interested in the field must have. Strong work, and very good presentation here, especially the storyboard sequences. Good for artists as a learning aid, or as entertainment for fans of the show, whatever age. Clear, uncluttered presentation from the Warners studio archives. A good history of the show, and a great lesson in how to develop an animated project. You should have this sense of design based on strength, simplicity, drama and clarity.

When I bought the book, I looked at the cover and thought it was a bit plain, dull even, but once I started to turn the pages I was awestruck with the amount of art presented so beautifully. Every page was loaded with the series' production material, insightful information, sharp images of characters/backgrounds, and even the title cards of BTAS episodes. You actually have to spend at least 5-10 minutes on each page JUST LOOKING at all the pictures. I was so grateful that the book was worth every dollar I spent on it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Batman Animated by Paul Dini, Chip Kidd July 24 2001
As a tutor in 3D animation at the Academy of Interactive Entertainment, also a person who loves to draw and read comics the Batman Animated book is one of the best books I have bought. A lot of examples of drawings and storyboards come with the book which is great, also the information of the problems they had while making the animated series and ways they fixed it was very interesting. This book is great to buy if you want to look at pictures or if you want info on the series. two thumbs up.

This excellent book chronicles all aspects of the most recent animated incarnation of "The Dark Knight".
Packed with artwork from the series (including some great storyboard sequences), as well as some cool photographs of the various B:TAS merchandise; this book is a must have for any fan of Batman, or animation.
Fans should also check out Chip Kidd's excellent "Batman Collected".

This book is filled with information on how the Batman animated serie came together. My favorite parts are in the character design and the story boarding. It's pretty amazing to see from concept to completion. I love the drawing style of all the characters. If you're into character design, definitely check out this book. Kinda pricy for poor starving art students thought...

All Batfans and animation enthusiats will love this book. It is really beautiful and gives a grand tour of the series. On the negative side, I felt that they should do a second part of this book that featured more unused designs for the series. I hope that this book becomes a bestseller so that we can see a Superman Animated book featured in Amazon.com !
