“Simply terrific.”—Scripps Howard News Service
“The caped crusader channels the gravelly paranoia of Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns while a desperate father working for the Joker lends the story its moral weight and inevitable humanitarian payoff.”—Paste Magazine
“Absolutely exquisite… I'd be more than happy to add reading "Batman: Noel" and watching it to my yearly yuletide festivities.”—Yahoo! Movies

“Gorgeously illustrated.”—io9
“More than a clever entertainment, and does more than just prove that Bermejo is a fine writer.” —The Morton Report
“Some artists like Bermejo seem to be regarded as having objectively beautiful illustrations. Bermejo is able to take characters we know and love and give them a sinister and realistic twist that makes them pop out of the pages. Batman Noel is worth picking up for the artwork alone."—Bloody_Disgusting.com, Pick of the Week
“Gives the classic story the dark edge that's inherent in anything set in Gotham City.”—Newsarama
“Lush.”—Comic Book Resources
Inspired by Charles Dickens' immortal classic A Christmas Carol, BATMAN: NOEL features different interpretations of The Dark Knight, along with his enemies and allies, in different eras.
Along the way, Batman must come to terms with his past, present and future as he battles villains from the campy 1960s to dark and brooding menaces of today, while exploring what it means to be the hero that he is. Members of Batman's supporting cast enact roles analogous to those from A Christmas Carol, with Robin, Catwoman, Superman, The Joker and more playing roles that will be familiar to anyone who knows Dickens' original holiday tale.

Batman and Scrooge not as different as one would think.,

This review is from: Batman: Noel (Hardcover)
I am a sucker for Batman Deluxe Hardcover books. I buy them without hesitation, and it is very rare that I am disappointed. The premise of Batman, and A Christmas Carol sounded like a good idea. A batman book with heart, don' t see that too often. Lee Bermejo who has been a fantastic artist on 2 previous DC one shots. The Joker & Luthor, stepped out of his norm to write and draw this book. This transition always makes me cringe a little. Like when a actor tries to sing. Stay with what you know. That being said. Lee does a very good job of writing this book, and he accomplished what I had hoped, a Batman book with heart, and fantastic art. While the price tag may be a little high for a 100 page book, it is well worth it. Oversized art is the only way to appreciate Bermejo's art { in my opinion of course }.

A must buy.,

Best Batman read ever! I can't say enough good things about the artwork. Reminds me of Will Eisner's work. This could be Lee Bermejo's finest material ever. Highly recommended.

Once again Lee Bermejo and Co. hit one out of the park! I was very impressed with the two previous outings in Luthor and The Joker and Noel continues in that fine line of impressive artistry and writing. Here Bermejo, as in The Joker, draws a Gotham City that literally gives the reader the feel of the grittiness of the city (you can almost smell the soot and pollution rising from the pages) and the depression and desperation of its people really show in the images as well as are heard in the dialogue. Quite an amazing feat considering the less impressive quality of artistry DC has used at certain times the last number of years on many stories. In any event, the reader really learns (alongside the Dark Knight himself) just how human Batman is. Suffice to say this is a must for any true Bat-fan and I look forward to Mr. Bermejo's next effort.
