I'd give this 10 stars if I could... I know some fans have had a problem with this season & it's changes in direction, but not me. I LOVED this season's art-deco look, the vivid reds in the sky, angular look of the characters..."Holiday Knights" is played every year in my home for Christmas! I love the set!!!! Best of all, WB provided us with a choice of opening sequences, the original BMTAS one or the superman batman one used at the time. I thought this magnificent opening sequence was gone forever! Bring on the Justice League sets! NOW!

The animated series of 'Batman' were a large part of my childhood--I blame it for my current obsession with the comics, the games, and the movies alike. This dark toned and gritty television show is something I will happily pass down to my future children, even though this particular volume has the appearances of multiple characters changed, it is still Paul Dini, the infamous writer behind it all--and with that you have perfection--or the closest thing to it in regards to the man that is the Bat.

It seems somewhat misleading that this is the 4th box set of Batman: The Animated Series as it is in fact the entire run of the New Adventures of Batman and Robin. I won't lie I was hesitant of buying this set as I grew up watching just Batman TAS as a child and saw glimpses of the animation of this season during high school and was not a fan. However both my sons loved watching all the other three seasons of Batman and wanted to see more so I bought this season for them.
However after watching the first disc with them I was hooked. The series only seemed to get better as it went along peaking at episode 12 "Over the Edge" and having some excellent stories about Robin and Harley Quinn in "Old Wounds" and "Mad Love". For those who read the comics growing up "Legends of the Dark Knight" was also excellent, showcasing some great Dick Sprang 1940s batman and Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns.
All in all this season was excellent and on par with the rest of the series. If you're reluctant to by this based on the change in animation style don't be. The stories are just as good and if you've been watching Superman the Animated Series or Justice League you'll be fine with the style. I'm happy my sons wanted to watch this season. The only negative of the series is Nightwing's mullet. I just couldn't get over it.

These episodes are the ones which, after enjoying the previous three volumes, don't look quite right. Batman: The Animated Series is possibly the best depiction of Batman available on any screen, anywhere. In 1997 they 'sort of' brought that amazing show back; voice cast, writers, producers; but it was now called 'The New Batman Adventures'. The style, tone and character designs are different than the early-mid 90s series, and by ifferent I mean... cheaper feeling. The fantastic detail and art-deco feel of the backgrounds is gone, and many of the characters (especially Catwoman and The Joker) look all wrong. There's a whole family of Bat-people now making it FAR more kid-friendly, and the sky in Gotham, no matter the time, place, or season is always, always ALWAYS bright RED.
Still, the voice cast does a fantastic job and the writing, which has lifted a lot of the darkness, is still pretty solid.

i am on the last couple of show of that season
truly a great animated series
and still the crasiest Joker
with Mark Hamell of Star Wars
doing the voice over
and a treat for anyone who remembers Paul Williams
from the 70's doing the Penguin
get this if you love everything Batman

I watched these as a kid it was one of my absolute favorite cartoons. I ordered these so my children could watch them too. If you're a Batman fan you will enjoy these, very good storyline and character development, to me this Batman IS Batman.

I purchased all four volumes of TAS together and I was very pleased with the condition of the packaging when it arrived.

The shows are really well done and a must have for Batman fans.

Even though I was shocked at the design changes for most of the villains (and I' m still disapproving for some of them), it's not rare to find a couple gems in term of storyline.
