The Legacy set (being the newest set) rivals the slightly older Evolution set in so many ways. The 6 disc evolution set was released over 6 years ago and wasn't remastered quite like the 6 disc legacy set. The picture and sound quality of the legacy set are a definite and noticeable improvement and a good enough reason to buy this set over any other Planet of the Apes set out there. That is, until they come out with the series on HD dvd's or blu-ray. All in all a great set! Could always be better but for the price (with free shipping!) its definitely worth it
If you already have all the Ape movies and don't want to shell out any more cash for one of the 2006 box sets, this edition of Battle is worth buying again just for the extra scenes which, for reasons that boggle the mind, have not shown up in North American video releases until now. The scenes only account for about ten extra minutes but most of them involve a subplot that is paramount to the climax of Beneath the Planet of the Apes and gives us more insight into the genesis of the mutant society and philosophy. Too bad the lost footage from Escape didn't show up this time around.
