This first volume of Beast Machines Transformers contains the first 5 episodes.
The menu is static, and it has the theme song playing in the background with a nice looking graphic of Optimus in flight mode.
There are no extras at all. Not even a sub menu with DVD credits. Just the main menu with each of the 5 episodes listed in order. Normally I would complain about the lack of extras, but the price is very low, and the video looks great...
The picture quality is A+ ...this DVD looks fantastic. Better than Ive ever seen the show on TV or VHS thats for sure. All in all its a terrific transfer!
Great job Anchor Bay, I hope you guys follow it up with more volumes and actually release the ENTIRE series of Beast Machines!

Maybe I do stand alone but Beast Machines is far superior to Beast Wars, in my opinion. The series really matured over the course of five seasons and this series is just great. The story is a creative and unique one, and much darker than the light hearted kiddy moments of Beast Wars' first season. It's interesting to see the Maximals always on the run in a world overrun by Megatron and his Vehicons as opposed to the ol' "Megatron tries to steal energy and Optimus has to stop him" story of the older days. So it's nice to see an environment where the Maximals are always on the run from the overseers in power. It's also a good story, consistant with itself and Beast Wars, mature themes.. Great showdowns and awesome battles.
It's also interesting to see Optimus Primal changed so much from the great leader character he once was. After returning home and discovering that he is responisble for the death's of all life on Cybertron he is consumed by guilt and slowly starts to depend on the Oracle rather than himself. It makes for great story, and it seems realistic. He thought he won the Beast Wars, but Megatron killed everyone.. don't you think Optimus would change on the inside with all the guilt? Yes, he wouldn't be the same way he was in the Beast Wars, the events over the course of the show would've changed him (or anyone in his shoes). Some people are just dumb and like to complain about because they.. have no imaginations and can't accept change.
Note: Megatron does not wear a skirt! His wings cover over his body to form a cloak. And I have to say, I love the design for Megatron in Beast Machines. That cool helmet with the muzzle, the cloak, everything. He just looks so cool and menacing, and damn right evil.

This Show Freakin Rocks, I have watched Transformers since they first came out and loved it. But when Beast Wars came out I was glued to my tv screen. I would watch it every time it was on even repeats. See i Love CGI, I prefer it over cartoons and when Beast machines came out it was even worse for me, no one got in my way or distracted me when Beast Machines were on......Well any who..............
This DVD rocked, I love teh new changes to the show, my only complaint about it was that there isn't a box set out yet............and when that day comes, i'll be one of the first people there to buy it. If you are a fan of Transformers and CGI then you shouldn't have any problems watching Beast Machines.

The War is over, but the battle has just begun? That's how they advertised this series and it's lame. I am one of the biggest Beast Wars Transformers fans and I was so excited about this show....up until I actually watched it. Let me list the reasons why...
1. It made no sense. How can they revert back to BW season 1 forms because of a virus? They where wicked cool Transmetals.
2. They made the Maximals into morphers...only the vehicons transform as well as Megatron (when he gets mad).
3. The Plant woman character and the bat are terrible....together they don't even come close to any Beast Wars transformer.
4. The show is way too dark. You only see day light at the end.
5. The show is too "Religious"
6. The designs of the characters is awful, Rattrap is horrific, I used to love that guy and now I can't look at him! He has no legs, he looks like a mobile wheel chair!!! And cheetor has weird insect legs or something. Why totaly change their faces or bodies....transmetal didn't even do that.
7. No projectile weapons like bullets, no body parts flying off, just Power Rangers fighting. Why give chhetor nothjing but a sword"???? Tell me....
8.Cybertron becomes technorganic
9.Just made to open up a new toy line.
Okay so it's saving graces are...
1.Megatron still has his dragon mode under his skirt.
2.The flashbacks to Beast wars and happened to make this future are awsome.
3. Good music (But no electric guitar)
4. The last episode when Megatron's head is on Optimal Optimus's body!
That's all.
And I'm pissed about what happened to Rhinox. It's wrong. I'm mad.
But I hope Mainframe makes a ne Trans show and fixes theis bad end note...return to earth!

----what's sad is that this show is still way better than most shows on tv...it kills the CGI spiderman!
Worth the money only if you don't mind tainting the perfection that was Beast Wars with this sequel that any fan could have out done if they led the creative team.
