I want to move to Montreal, and I don't speak much French nor do I have a job offer there -- no, it would be for the AMAZING MUSIC SCENE. THere is a lot more than Arcade Fire (or mediocre pop-friendly groups like the Stills).
BEAST is a great group, well worth exploring -- as long as you are open to "rap"-influenced rock and soul. Wonderful stuff that has a lot of originality and vitality and authenticity. Fantansique!

Cool Band and Cool Music!Dec 22 2008
- Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Beast if such a cool band! Their music is like a mix of rap and rock. It's such a cool mix of the two! It's NOT gang banger rap! NO! It's interesting lyrics i think others would enjoy. I especially like the tracks entitled "Devil", "Microcyte", and "Mr.Hurricane". All in all, Beast is such a cool band because the trippy style of thier songs and lyrics is a nice departure from other bland bands that are simply just carbon copies of eah other. Beast has thier own unique style that makes them one of my favorite bands! This cd is definitely worth the money! You won't regret buying it! I gurantee it 110%! ENJOY!

Raw female vocals get the groove on for me...Dec 22 2008
- Published on Amazon.com
I had never heard of Beast before until one of the songs was offered as a free mp3. As soon as I listened to it I knew I had to have the entire album.
The raw vocals of Betty Bonifassi and the groovalicious sounds of Jean-Phi Goncalves are unlike any that I've heard before. And not only are the sounds moving but the lyrics are well worth paying attention to. There is also very effective use of backup vocals - specifically a choir on Mr. Hurricane (which is my favourite track from the album).
"If I can't make my eyes come back, I won't see where we went wrong...since you stole my arms and legs I've been rolling around on the floor..." - from Finger Prints, my second favourite on the album.
I find it very difficult to compare them to any other band out there. She has some of the raw qualities of Tina Turner and early Alanis, but so far beyond either of them.
Definitely preview Finger Prints and Mr. Hurricane, and if you like what you hear then get the whole thing. They also have a myspace page at: [...] if you want to check tour dates and listen to the rest of the tracks.
