5.0 out of 5 stars Beastmaster Review May 10 2013

An excellent old series. Hasn't lost its flair even for todays more enlightened young. I for nothing else the interaction with a variety of animals is appreciated by animals lovers young and old.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great series Nov. 15 2010
Format:DVD
I remember watching this on television years ago, and was thrilled to see it released on video. The main character Dar, played by Daniel Goddard who now acts on Young and the Restless, is way better than the original Beastmaster - better actor, better looking. The animals are beautiful and intigrated wonderfully in this series. It is about a man (the Beastmaster) who is given the power to talk to the animals in order to help protect them, way back when wizards and sorcery was real - when nature and magic ruled the world. Many wish to steal Dar's power for their own, and the main story is simply good vs evil. There are only 3 seasons in the Beastmaster series, but they are good, clean shows that emphasize the benefits of being honest, decent people. They're great.

3.0 out of 5 stars Beastmaster: The Complete First Season Sept. 22 2010

Beastmaster: The Complete First Season

I really enjoyed this TV series and would give it a four star rating, BUT these new 4-6 `clipped-stacked' Alliance Films releases are really getting me `bugged' off. I've purchased over the last year Seasons of BeastMaster, Lexx, Earth: Final Conflict, RoboCop, Outer Limits: The New Series, PSI: Factor, Mutant X and all but a few have had at least two to all six discs loose in the case with scratches after opening them. I realized what's the use of returning them for exchange, as it will continue to happen again. The packing gets a one star rating so I can only give this Alliance Films release at best a three star overall rating.

3.0 out of 5 stars Be aware of poor packaging of this set June 24 2011
By ivarpool - Published on Amazon.com
Format:DVD
The show is an ok fantasy show imho, but I really like the genre, so I buy a lot of ok or better films and series. If you enjoy Xena and Hercules type of shows and could even go "lower" in quality, this show could be for you.

My review is more a reaction to the cover/packaging it comes in, not the packaging it's shipped in.

The package/cover is a lot slimmer, but not better than the other version. This one being the Canadian and the other the US version, as far as I know. The package of the US one is not perfect and a bit odd, but ok compared to this one.

I have a vast collection of films and series and used to buying many of them from the US to Norway. Only have a handful as bad as this set when it comes to packaging. There is little to hold most of the discs in place. Perhaps it will hold 1-2 discs in place or more if you're lucky. Not the worst I have [,from around the world], but not far off.

Expect dislocated disc to be the norm, rather than something that happens seldom or once in a while with other packages. If the other version is available, at a reasonable price, I would've considered the packaging as well.

3.0 out of 5 stars needs closed caption April 21 2014

I am hearing impaired that it used to have closed caption on tv. I feel it should have them on those collections that we should be treated fairly
