Buy both volumes.

Beasts! volume two is not a continuation of the cryptozoological alphabet from volume one, but instead a second volume of A-Z "hidden beasts". Both volumes show cryptoids in A-Z order by name. Volume two contains work by amazing artists such as Femke Hiemstra, Tomer Hanuka, and Tessar Lo. A personal favorite in this volume was it's depiction of the Deer Woman of the southern U.S., which was portrayed in a medium I wasn't expecting.
That's really the pull of these volumes - seeing cryptoids ouside of their natural art habitat. An Australian monster might be drawn by an artist from Japan, or there may be a work in clay of a creature you've only ever found paintings of - and even that, only rarely.
If you enjoyed volume one, I highly recommend purchasing volume two - not only does it expand the collection of mythical and mystical creatures, but it has a fantastic collection of work from current artists and illustrators.

In some ways, I find this book even better than the first - which speaks to the concept and coordination of the project itself. The hard-back edition has a wonderful tactile feel to the cover, which I absolutely love. Again, great for inspiration, entertainment, and conversation. An excellent addition to my collection of inspirational resources.

I have the first one in soft cover and have always enjoyed it. When I needed a unique gift for a friend, I felt like this would be the perfect addition to his coffee table. This hardcover book is fantastic, with high quality paper and a nice textured cover. The images run the gamut of contemporary art; from creepy to zany. The only reason I give it four stars was that the corners on the covers were a little bit dinged. I didn't have time to send it back (my fault), but it should have been in perfect condition. Now I just wish that I had gotten an extra copy for myself.
