A perfect lazy sunday afternoon luxury... Sept. 20 2009
By D. Morse - Published on
Format: Paperback
I recently read the original version, and found it almost impossible to put down. I just finished reading this revised edition and it was even better than the original. This thrilling novel has everything; humor, steamy sex, romance and danger. The characters are extremely likeable (even Hyacinth in the beginning), memorable and easy to relate to. I found myself being pulled into Hyacinth's world and loved every minute of it. It was one of those rare novels that you wish would go on forever..Ellen Dean is a talented writer and I can't wait for Beyond Midnight
Nice weekend read, but leaves you hanging at the end of the book Sept. 15 2012

This book was a nice weekend read. It didn't have the character's depth I wanted it to have, though. In a few parts it is a bit confusing, but only for a moment or two. I didn't like the main character much, but I did like the minor characters a lot. If you have an objection to witchcraft (which I don't) you may not like the book. My biggest complaint about the book is that it leaves you hanging at the end, while you are waiting for the next book. While this book wasn't one of my favorites, I definitely want to read the second book to know what happens next.

This was a very enjoyable read. There was a touch of intrigue along with mystery. The main character Hyacinth was one you loved to hate. In the beginning I wanted to slap some sense into Beth. Lou you just had to love when she first came on the scene. Of course there was romance and lurking in the background was witchcraft. At the end you discover a sequel is now ready to be read next. "Beyond Midnight" is now on my Kindle and I am going to start it now.
A 5 Star PLUS Novel! July 29 2014

Format: Paperback
This book was so impossible to put down I read it from cover to cover in a 24 hour period! Hyacinth is a character filled with so many emotions, humor, sexy, romantic and very dangerous.. I was totally drawn into the characters wishing for more when the last page was turned. I am starting Beyond Midnight tonight which I am sure will be an all nighter also.. I simply cannot get enough of Ellen Dean's talent.. I want to rate this novel a five star PLUS.

No character development. Story line wasn't fleshed out or well written. I found it boring and unrelatable. I kept hoping it would get interesting, but from the first page to the last, I found it boring.
