Good enough, but not perfect for beginner. Jan. 11 2009

For someone like me who is managing a team of developers for software tools, I went through the book within a week. It took me a bit longer because I had been submitting about 5-6 erratas to the publisher. While I can understand why there may be a push to get the book out for the holidays, I had really hoped the example code provided on validation had worked as described in the book. However, if you are familiar with Oracle Application Express some what but don't have the time sit through training course, using this book will fast track you enough to be a hands-on APEX practitioner. If you are doing development today in APEX, I would recommend another book "Pro Oracle Application Express," by Scott Spendolini since that is what couple of my developers keep on their desks.
Good luck.

Oracle Instructor Review Feb. 8 2009

I have taught the Oracle Application Express course for Oracle for as long as the software has been available. I developed and teach a course for Portland Community College and I am using this book as the primary resource book for my students. I strongly recommend this book for those interested in getting a great start with Application Express.

Beginning Oracle Application Express (Wrox Programmer to Programmer)
Having a hard time March 3 2013

Got this for a class. The version of Apex that Oracle hosts is a newer version than used in this book.
The steps involved for each task do not match the APEX ide.

Frankly, I've never heard of Apex before this class, and I fail to see the need for it. There are many more robust ways to create database apps for Oracle.

I'll check to see if the book has any updated text on the publisher's website.

I gave it a 3 star rating because it does seem like a decent book if the screen shots etc matched up with the actual IDE.

Screens on the server do not match the ones shown in the book. The book should be updated for version 4.1.
Good for a Beginner April 4 2011

Good enough for the beginner to APEX. However, there are very few beginner books on APEX out there. I was disappointed with the editing of this book. Some of the steps didn't follow what actually had to be done and it cause me to get some errors. Also, the code that came with it was incomplete, so I had to type it from scratch.
