I bought this surge protector/line conditioner to protect a new TV and low-cost audio system I installed in the bedroom. We get a lot of power outages where I live, and I wanted something to protect the system without spending a huge amount of money. This unit is not only inexpensive but has many features found usually in protectors costing much more.
This is a very stylish surge protector. The construction is very solid. It is not a plastic piece of junk. It is cased much like other audio equipment, so it would look nice in any audio rack. It can be turned on and off from the front, and a very bright light lets you know it's on. There are some lights to indicate the quality of your AC line, but unless you have really crummy wiring I doubt these ever change. There is no remote control, but I really wouldn't expect one at this price point.
There are 8 protected outlets, which is plenty for most systems. Some of the outlets are switched so specific devices can be turned on/off by the surge protector. The unit advertises having line conditioning to optimize sound quality. I have never noticed a sound difference with line conditioners -- I have some expensive Panamax units guarding a high-end audio system in the living room, and they make no difference in the audio quality either. So don't expect to hear anything different. The value of this unit is mainly its surge protection.
I'm very pleased with this purchase. It has great features, looks stylish, and won't break your piggy bank. If you are looking for a quality surge protector for audio or video equipment this is well worth the money spent.
