This collection includes works written for the oboe as well as some adapted, all by composers had an association with Naples, which I suppose is one way of narrowing choices. The selections cover the Baroque to the early 20th century, and all make good listening. It's worth buying just for the too short Donizetti piece, but they all demonstrate, as the cover notes say, "enchanting cantabile." Christopher Hartmann's performances are, as would be expected, excellent, and his back-up band is top drawer. The sound is superb.
