David Kristian: Beneath The Valley Of The Modulars

If you like the music of Aphex Twin or Autechre, you must get this CD. Not to say that this is derivative of the aforementionned artists, but rather complimentary. Beneath The Valley Of The Modulars is one of the best IDM CDs I have ever heard. The standout tracks include Suction Cup Race, Sound of Clara, Flywheel, and AV. This is a much overlooked David Kristian release, probably due to Alien8 Recordings' reputation for putting out ambient drone and noise records, as in David Kristian's abstract and drum-less Cricklewood and Roomtone CDs. As much as I can appreciate David Kristian's good taste in ambient sound design, I have to say I prefer the material he has released on Drop Beat and Wikkid, with the exception of Beneath the Valley of the Modulars his only ryhthm-based work for the Alien8 Imprint. With all due respect to other labels, my question is, why isn't this guy signed to Warp Records already?
