Very strong clamp, very easy to adjust May 31 2013

This bar clamp is very well made and easy to adjust. It is designed for very strong clamping, as in building furniture, and so is quite heavy. Because of its size and weight, I would not recommend it for light clamping tasks but other than that, this clamp can't be beat.

Widely adjustable, holds with precise tightness, non-marring covers on both jaws Aug. 15 2015
By Chris Dragon - Published on Amazon.com
This is my favorite clamp in the toolbox. Big enough for most projects I do. Padded on both jaws. Quickly adjusts to close to the size required by pressing a switch on the movable bar. Then you turn the red handle to screw to tighten to a precise pressure. You might fear there's no sliding bar to grip like on the screw of a classic c-clamp, but can get plenty of torque by gripping that big red handle. There is a nice ball joint on the circular jaw so the padded part can remain unmoving on the piece being clamped while the joint rotates. Joint allows the pad to tilt about 10 degrees for items that aren't quite square.

This clamp is much more compact than a pistol-grip bar clamp and can be made tighter with no gradual loosening, though it takes more time to tighten. It's also heavier than most pistol grip clamps I've seen because everything but the pads and handle is metal.

If you have something light to clamp, you can actually rest the Bessy on its bar side to hold the clamped item up in the air. The item does need to be fairly balanced around the point where it's clamped because you have less than an inch of width to rest the clamp on, but the designers were thinking and made sure the clamp CAN be balanced with jaws pointing up. If you need to, lay a second clamp on the table to hold the non-moving end of the balanced clamp and it definitely won't fall over.
