As a long time fan of Donny and Marie (my first, official concert was them and the Osmond Brothers in 1978), I saw the cover and knew it was a photo from the back cover of my favorite 1976 Donny and Marie LP "Donny and Marie New Season." I thought, "Great! There will be some of my favorite songs on there from that LP and the TV show." I was completely wrong. (Note: The clothes on the cover of this CD are also the same ones found on the Donny and Marie dolls that were sold in the 1970s.)
There are certain songs that fans of the TV series would remember. Those songs are not found on this CD. Why? Who put this CD together to label it "their greatest hits" when there are more songs out there by Donny and Marie that are more classic than this and would be considered their greatest hits.
Because they had a variety show for so long, there are some songs that fans would remember more. The songs that should be on this CD that weren't:
"May Tomorrow Be a Perfect Day" (closed the TV show every week)
"A Little Bit Country, A Little Bit Rock and Roll" (my favorite part of the TV show)
"It Takes Two"
"Anytime Sunshine"
"Show Me"
"It's All Been Said Before"
My favorite songs on this CD are:
"Ain't Nothing Like The Real Thing"
"Deep Purple"
"I'm Leaving It All Up To You"
Which were featured on other Donny and Marie LPs I have.
I hope that in the future, there will be a follow up to this CD with songs that all fans and viewers will remember. For now, Donny and Marie fans will have to use this CD as a substitution.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pleasant to the Ears Nov. 11 2000
Format:Audio CD
In these times of unmemorable, unmelodious songs that seem to offer nothing except noise and that too great possibility of ruined eardrums and frayed nerves, this Donna and Marie collection is a welcome one.
Winsome and entertaining, this brother and sister act brings not only good entertainment but a wholesome image as well. Their simple and direct approach to music-making in terms of plain delivery and harmony in addition to good choice of materials is what makes this CD a wise investment.
The haunting quality of I'm Leaving It All Up To You, Morning Side Of The Mountain and Make The World Go Away turn these songs into memorable ones despite their utmost simplicity. Take Me Back Again reveals that all-too-human longing to be back in one's hometown among one's long-forgotten friends, its upbeat tempo betraying that nostalgic urgency without negating any of its poignancy. The Umbrella Song is cute and Everything Good Reminds Me Of You is a sunny, feel-good type of song.
Keep going, Donny and Marie!

3.0 out of 5 stars OK for the most price conscious March 17 2004

Format:Audio CD
Curb Records has been pumping out Osmond family CD's for a long time now and has yet to get it totally right. In this budget piece of only ten tracks, are the supposed greatest hits of Donny and Marie as a duo. Even with only ten tracks, seeing as they had a total of seven top-100 charting singles, there is certainly room to include all those songs. One of them, their version of "Soul And Inspriration", has been left off in favor of a b-side. Granted, most of their hits are here but why not all of them? Repertoire considerations aside, the sound quality here is adequate with all tracks in stereo and the liner notes contain a brief musical history on these Osmond siblings. For its purpose, a budget collection of most of their singles, this fits the bill but for a few dollars more you can get better Donny and Marie collections elsewhere.

4.0 out of 5 stars Greatest Hits but no Best Of... Sept. 30 2000
Format:Audio CD
This compilation is their greatest hits minus their top 40 hit Soul & Inspiration. It also lacks some of their best known material such as A Little Bit Country, A Little Bit Rock N' Roll and their closing show theme May Tomorrow Be A Perfect Day. Here's my version of their Greatest Hits: I'm Leaving It All Up To You, Morning Side Of The Mountain, It Takes Two, Make The World Go Away, Together, Deep Purple, A Little Bit Country..., Ain't Nothing Like The Real Thing, Soul & Inspiration, Winning Combination, Baby I'm Sold On You, On The Shelf, Certified Honey, May Tomorow Be A Perfect Day.
Am I asking for TOO MUCH?

5.0 out of 5 stars Great music scores by the talented siblings!! Sept. 6 1999

Format:Audio CD
I think that Donny and Marie are great singing together. The music's for the whole family! My favourite is the disco flavoured "On the Shelf"(from their first and only motion picture "Goin' Coconuts!"). I also really like "'Aint Nothing Like the Real Thing", "The Umbrella Song", "Morning Side of the Mountain", I'm Leaving it (All Up) To You" and just about the rest of the tracks! They had their own variety show "The Donny and Marie Show"(1976-78) and years later reunited to host their own talk show. They're still going strong indeed!
