Product Description

Formed in 1971, this South Carolina unit rode the Allman Brothers-led southern-rock trend to great commercial success in the mid-'70s. Adding a bit more twang (Toy Caldwell's riffs recalled Duane Eddy) and jazzy elements (via Jerry Eubanks's sax and flute) to the mix, MTB had its biggest hit in 1975 with "Heard It in a Love Song" from their Searchin' for a Rainbow LP. Waylon Jennings subsequently scored a hit with their "Can't You See," but the band never recovered from the deaths of the Caldwell brothers. This two-disc set has absolutely everything you need and perhaps more--including "45 versions" as well as "live" repeats--the latter fitting since MTB was foremost a live act. --Bill Holdship

5.0 out of 5 stars Yes, this is The Best! Dec 10 2009
Format:Audio CD
This is by far the best collection you can by in one package of the MTB. It has some very nice live cuts as well. I read that there is limited supply out there...' better get it now, you'll be pleased with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Of The Tuckers All In One Place! May 17 2003
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
The Marshall Tucker Band's Greatest Hits album only included 8 tracks; that is why any MTB fan should purchase this excellent collection of highlights from this very talented and musically diverse band. Covering the Capricorn years of their recording career, which was their main heyday, this album features all of the big hits, as well as some hidden favorites and wonderful live tracks. The only problems with the album are that it was not remastered and includes the 45 version recordings of some of their nicest hits, taking away from the extended instrumentals. Overall, though, this is the best way to get the MTB all in one place. I love "In My Own Way," "Ramblin," live, and "24 Hours at a Time," live.
