Product Description

Product Description

Discover new, entertaining, and useful apps for the iPhone, Android smartphones, and BlackBerry devices, without searching aimlessly through their respective app stores. This book organizes several hundred apps from the iPhone App Store, Android Market, and BlackBerry App World into seven broad categories, which are divided into 70 distinct subcategories, making it easy to find the type of smartphone application you are looking for. Need an app for blogging? About an app for geocaching? Want a weather widget? Perhaps a banking app is what you need? Compare the features of each app within a specific subcategory and consider its price. If you like a specific app, simply search for it by name directly from your smartphone or by visiting the app store website.

This "book" is pretty weak. Mixing iphone, Android, and BlackBerry together in one book makes the material hard to follow. The reviews are all mixed together, not in separate chapters for each device.

Also the reviews are very weak. You get the name of the app and a couple of sentences of description. No screen shots. No feature listings. No reasoning on why the author chose a certain app over its competitors. No mention of version dates or version numbers. No links to app web sites or stores.

Much better reviews are available at numerous free web sites. I would recommend several of them to my friends instead of this book.
