From Booklist
Freddy O'Neal lives in Reno, plays Keno relentlessly (but not slot machines or blackjack), and works as a private investigator. She is hired by Tella Scope to dig up some dirt on Tella's mother, Gloria, who has recently inherited controlling interest in her late husband's state-of-the-art computer company. Tella, a business whiz, and her brother, a computer genius, want their mother out. When Gloria winds up facedown in the family pool, Freddy wants out. However, a Mob leader convinces her to become Tella's bodyguard (because she is actually his daughter from Gloria's first marriage). Freddy's recent stint as a bodyguard was unsuccessful, and this boring yet heart-stopping work is not her first choice. Her only solution is to find out who killed the mother and eliminate the risks. The Nevada setting is a nice backdrop, and Freddy is an interesting character, sure to delight her new and established fans.
