5.0 out of 5 stars Game is on 12 to 18 hours a day March 7 2012
Format:Video Game
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I started playing this game the day it arrived and within 2 weeks my husband was asking for time to play his own character. Between us we play most of the day. This is the dungeon style game we have been wanting and never knew existed. It is a total open gaming world which we both prefer. No getting stuck on some mission you can't beat like in linear games. You are free to go anywhere and do any missions you come across and completely ignore the main story line if you want. I like to do a bit of both but really enjoy the freedom to do what I want depending on my mood at the time. The character setup can be customized and this has us both creating 2 or 3 different ones to approach the game as a magic user or fighter or thief or combinations.
I am enjoying it so much I am glad Borderlands 2 has been delayed once again. By the fall I might be ready to give this a rest. It is good that we are retired or the fun would be a real problem. It is fun to watch someone else play so you don't have to leave them feeling abandoned. Let the playing begin I think it is my turn now.
If you like open world gaming buy this you won't be disappointed.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Fantasy Game for Teens+ May 28 2012
Format:Video Game|Verified Purchase
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I previously owned this game for the xbox 360, and upon completing 'Skyrim' for the Ps3, I decided to buy this for the Ps3 and gain all the trophies for it as I did in 'Skyrim'. Little did I know, there are no trophies for this game on the Ps3. Regardless of that fact, this game is fun, exciting, and entertaining. A heavy recommendation on my part for any players who have yet or have already played 'Skyrim'.

5.0 out of 5 stars Oblivion, a world of it's own. Dec 18 2010
Format:Video Game
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
This game is basically a country. A landscape filled with hundreds of quests, thousands of NPCs and endless multi-level dungeons and caves.

It's an RPG, and probably the best action-rpg i've ever played, and I've been gaming for 15 years. I wont go into the story, because you can read up on that elsewhere, or better yet, experience it yourself by playing the game. Even though it's been out for almost 5 years, i still consider it the best looking game on PS3 to date. I've played Fallout: New Vegas and Gran Turismo 5 (recent titles) and Oblivion still looks better. You can seriously get immersed in this game and lose yourself (and sense of time).

It's a level-based game (1 to 100 i believe) and theres an endless combination of character classes you can make, not to mention all the interesting weapons / items in the game to keep you occupied.

I recently jumped back into it and started a new character which I've put about 80 hours into, and he's only level 16... So it will definitely keep you busy for awhile without getting boring. BUY IT!

5.0 out of 5 stars The mother of all RPGs June 29 2006
Format:Video Game
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
This is not your father's video game. The graphics are mind blowing. The story is excellent. Every person in the game speaks (some are even voiced by Jean Luc Picard). The depth is astounding. I have logged in more than 100 hours and I feel like I'm still just scratching the surface. This is the ultimate sandbox for grown-ups. My family misses me. If I had one (very small) complaint, it would be about the rather long load times. This is a very (very, very, very) small price to pay. How the hell do they get sooooo much game onto one little disc - it just blows my mind. Oblivion sets the bar and is now the touchstone by which I will measure all role playing games in the future.

Headline speaks for itself. Nothing out of the ordinary. Arrived at the time expected. Maybe the package could come in something warmer for winter in Canada? I don't know, I just needed to fill this section up.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great immersive first person RPG Aug. 11 2013
Format:Video Game|Verified Purchase
I actually got this game after becoming obsessed with the sequel, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. While obviously behind Skyrim in terms of graphics, I still have really enjoyed this game. I find the lore of the Elder Scrolls fascinating and have really enjoyed piecing together stories that were mentioned in passing during my Skyrim play-throughs. So far Oblivion has been very immersive and I would say that if you're someone who likes RPGs where you can literally get distracted from the main story for weeks, then you will enjoy Oblivion. I actually can't comment much on the main story line as I've been distracted going through the various guild missions for many, many, many hours.

The skill (and perk system) is much more customizable in Skyrim, but there are still plenty of interesting ways to customize your character. The main annoyances would be the armor repair system (which was subsequently removed) and other minor things like arrows having weight.
