Product Description

“What elevates this is McCarty’s fabulous art, which brings the idea of a really big family delightfully to life. A warm and wonderful treat that’s great for family story hours.” (Booklist (starred review) )

“Still bewitching, yet serious about her strong opinions, Chloe continues to stand out in a crowd.” (Publishers Weekly (starred review) )

“The gentle, child-friendly artwork complements the story told with minimal text. The result is a calming bedtime story for family sharing.” (School Library Journal (starred review) )

“Drawn in delicate pen-and-ink and watercolors, McCarty’s impeccably cute creatures seem to hover magically in midair, like little balloons in some fantastical, vaguely Japanese idyll. …After this ode to imaginative play among siblings, we can understand why Henry fell so deeply in love.” (New York Times Book Review )

“In CHLOE, McCarty captures the charm of a large squashed-together family, just in time for summer reunions.” (Boston Globe ) --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

I didn't especially care for this book. The cover makes the book look very pretty and I thought it would show you techniques on decorating as well as how to decorate cakes in certain shapes etc. I was very disappointed to see that some of the cakes look as if they had been made by children.

So-So May 8 2006
By M. L. Rojas - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
Based on the adorable cover, I was anxious to add this book to my collection, however, I was a little disappointed once it got here. If you're going for something cute to take to your child's classroom party, or easy decorating for young children, then this book is for you. To be honest, this is just a glorified version of the Betty Crocker mini-magazines you find at a grocery store check out (as a matter of fact, I own one of those, and there are repeats in this book). If you are thinking of purchasing this book, I recommend you flip through it at a local book store first to make sure it is the level you are looking for.

Sure this book is basic but it is fabulous for those of us who are not the best decorators....bakers....etc. There are many books out there that I am afraid to attempt the ideas but this one is GREAT!! Thanks Betty Crocker. I am so excited to make so many of the cakes and cupcakes in this book.

Forget about round cakes or square cakes. This is all you will need to make a "Pretty Cake". The instructions are very easy to follow. You can make it yourself instead of buying one. This is a very helpfull book for all of us amateurs.

dissapointed July 14 2006

I thought this book would have some really nice looking ideas and info. It is a "cute" book more for beginners... I wasn't happy with the substance.

Decorating with candy Jan. 16 2008
By S. Jar - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
I was disappointed in this book. It looked cute and I thought it would have some great ideas for cupcakes - specifically for Valentine's Day & my son's birthday. Most of the decorating in this book is using candy instead of frosting which isn't my thing. If you want easy decorating using candies, this book is for you. If you are wanting to expand your cake decorating library, maybe pick another book.
