a must for new moms, Dec 8 2010
This review is from: Between Interruptions: Thirty Women Tell the Truth About Motherhood (Hardcover)
I wish I had been given this book when I became a new mom. It gives you so many different essays from moms that there will be one to relate too. As a Momoir Project fan--this is a great book to re-read over thae next many many years.

A Conversation You Can Finish at Your Convenience, Aug 16 2007
This review is from: Between Interruptions: Thirty Women Tell the Truth About Motherhood (Hardcover)
If you swear you haven't been able to finish a sentence, let alone complete a conversation, in years, here's a book that gives you the lowdown on what your mom friends have been trying to tell you between interruptions.
The essays in this book are organized around five key themes -- ambition, anxiety, guilt, devotion, and redemption -- and deal with situations as varied as postpartum depression, mom friendships, becoming your own father (yes father, not mother), resenting the nanny, knowing when your family is finished, and the perils of potties as hats.
To create this collection, CBC producer Cori Howard, the book's editor, solicited contributions from both well-known and not-so-well-known Canadian mothers: novelists, journalists, newspaper and magazine editors, singer/songwriters, broadcasters, bloggers (including Toronto blogger MUBAR -- Mothered Up Beyond All Recognition), and others. The result is an honest and memorable collection of outtakes from the lives of Canadian moms.

Tell it like it is, Dec 5 2011
This review is from: Between Interruptions: Thirty Women Tell the Truth About Motherhood (Hardcover)
I often referred to my daytime job as a job of interruptions....then I became a first time mom....and let's just say that even though it was planned and I felt good about it...I was still feeling blindsided. The title of the book caught my eye. Life is now a series if interruptions and unfinished thoughts. This book tells it like it is and offers reassurance and hope. It is thoughtfully organized and very readable. Great personal memoirs, realistic portrayals of the often tormenting feelings of motherhood as one adjusts to the new realities of life.
